It's kinda fujobait but it doesn't have any open homosexuality. Sure, one of the main characters is a dude and he plays a geisha in a play (for like 6' out of 13 episodes) and he has a platonic relationship with his aniki, but you don't call Gungrave homosexual, or any other anime with adult male friends caring a lot for each other.

Some people thought Bon might be gay due to him rejecting Miyokichi. However, there were plenty of time in which he showed genuine attraction toward her, and the main reason he rejected her was his own inferiority complex (started by his parents rejecting him, and Sukeroku being a natural at it), which made him feel like he had to become good at Rakugo in order for him to feel like he wasn't a good for nothing - by the time he started finding out what his style really was he became so immersed in Rakugo, and that ended in him rejecting Miyokichi.

Nah, he rejected her for Rakugo.

I agree that he did love her though. There was a recently translated interview with the VAs and we get more insight into the relationship of Kiku/Miyo.

Yeah, but he became so immersed in Rakugo, because he was clearly jealous of Sukeroku being a prodigy at it.
Once he started discovering his own style he focused solely on Rakugo, in order to become as good (or better) than Sukeroku.

For Bon, in many ways, this was to prove himself.
