In that situation the members of Class B were attempting to find the source of the gas and stop it. And their options of who to send in included a girl whose power is enlarging her body and an injured person, so yes they decided to send in the guys fucking made of metal to go Scout the area and find the guy.

The rest of the people who are villains in that chapter could either shoot fire from their hands had giant muscles or could project their teeth outside of the body. I've done is redundant on two of those options

Not to mention in this world superheroes are not meant to kill criminals me leading them for police to take it and we have seen police officers brandish firearms.

So before we talk about the series read it yourself and cite specific areas where your logic applies. World building is a problem but not the way you frame it.

I think his issue is the very fact that someone used a gun at all means it's possible for any other student to run into someone with a gun too. Even some awareness of them in class or training on how to deal with them would suffice.

How is a tail or sugar power going to stop a room full of guns if say barely two or three students can handle getting shot? They said it themselves during the licence exam, and i'm paraphrasing here, the hero has to be responsible for all kinds of situations during the rescue part. That should include guns if they exist in this world.

Hell they can even explain the lack of guns by saying since quirks are essentially ammo-less powers and you don't have to deal with smuggling them in and their purchase. You could even say that early villains and heroes had quirks that made guns less popular due to their ineffectiveness if super defense was common. You could even say that bad guys opt for them for relative ease of acquisition and never have to worry about being caught without a weapon if you scored in the genetic lottery.

Acknowledgement of guns past a single perfect counter for one is all we need, but its ongoing so who knows, they might address it, they might not. After all they're still just students.

Yeah, in the hero exam most of the "villains" were using wrist mounted weapons meant to aid (or even hinder) their quirks. And we know that at least one villain was smart enough to carry around a gun in case of emergencies. Not to mention this is only the 4th generation since quirks started showing up in humanity so firearms can't be completely out of style just yet.

All I can say here is that usually I gauge the challenges a hero in a story (especially super hero fiction) is going to have to go up against with their powers. Deku is all about punching things and thinking ahead of his opponents. His ability doesn't make him bullet proof so I don't expect to see too many guns. If he were Spiderman or the Punisher I would expect to see more firearms because in the case of the former, he can always dodge them. And in the case of the latter guns is one of his primary ways of solving problems.

It's funny because you and the other anon bring up the lack of worldbuilding and I keep thinking about how underutilized the whole "weird science" branch of manufacturing is within the story. The Villains have their supply man who makes custom outfits and equipment for them. And UA has an entire program for support items. Yet we never really delve into why custom firearms were never created alongside quirk augmenting equipment. In this regard I can 100% agree that the lack of firearms makes no sense.

I guess that's all I can really ask, wait to see if Hori does address it. Gasmask vs Steel man was a perfect counter but it's a situation that only he could have pulled off without eating lead and dying. That was his moment to shine and he got it. I hope the future does address the arms race that would have coincided with the rise of quirks. Not everyone is a walking napalm dispenser.
