I think the writers that quit thought it too.

Like, we can actually see when the series started getting milked. In the beginning, there were episodes with no duels or them being skipped for the plot to roll, some important characters barely had their decks shown and the openings were more faithful to what ended ocurring. With, you know, the exception being the rocket.

And then in synchro we had a bunch of excuses for some characters to duel and show off their decks, Dennis, Shun and Crow being examples of that and after that we had a lot of things hinting at some plot happening and then being forgotten.

What happened to Sawatari and the Lancers dueling their way out of the underground? What happened to all that zetsubou battle in the Xyz opening? What happened to the dimensional war? The people in standard that would be trained to fight? What happened to Masumi?

I don't even believe adding legacy characters was a problem. I actually think it's awesome to have a cast returning. Sure, I found them being parallel characters to be a problem, but what really sucked was when they had no contribution to the plot or were butchered.

Jack was put on really nicely. Crow was solely for shilling, Aster was completely different from the original one and Alexis would have been even ok to have but she was just put there, introducted and killed. Kaito could have been much more, but was just a known friend of the resistance and enemy of Academia.

Having just 50 episodes left really screams for everything to be rushed, but damn in 50 episodes the things you can pull off are insane! In 25 episodes we can have decent anime seasons, even being a card game anime, 50 episodes is more than enough time. We had Standard in 50 episodes for gods sake!

I was looking at banned cards thinking about which ones could possibly go unbanned and, man, Magical Scientist certainly will never come back. Its effect isn't once per turn, so you could use it multiple times to pull lv4, lv,5, or lv6 fusion monsters and overlay them for high rank XYZ monsters and most certainly OTK your opponent.

It makes sense if you think of Yuya in a critical light.

Yuya has spent almost the entire series effectively changing what his "dueling" is. Whenever someone brings up the faults of whatever style he's using currently, he'll angst about it and then adjust what he's doing to better suit their tastes. It happened in Synchro and it happened again during Yuya versus Yuri. This is consistent with Zarc's backstory.

Recall Leo versus Reiji and Yuya. Zarc abruptly appears to speak through Yuya in rebuttal to Leo, and he says, "I was just doing what they told me/what they wanted," when Leo mentions the amount of destruction Zarc's bloodlust caused.

He's the most central aspect and purest form of Zarc; it's probably why his hair still has green bits in it. Yuya is an empty shell who is only content with the praise garnered from satisfying others.

Chronomalies have a nice theme but are mechanically stupid. Gagagas can Xyz summon basically whatever rank they want, but they lose points partially because Yuma refused to make anything but R4s the entire fucking show, only really utilizing Gagaga Magician's Lv-Change effect a couple of times, at least once was just so he could get a bigger bonus out of an Equip. Syllables in general were a mess, although they clearly were fielding a non-locked archetype deck, sort of a proto-deck for Yuya's Odd-Eyes EM Magicians.

Gimmick Puppets are just a Zombie deck that can play Limiter Removal, and aren't particularly special. Galaxies were stupid shit that Photons didn't need, and what's worse is that they could've just been fucking Photons, instead of making a second archetype. Numbers shouldn't have been a fucking archetype.

BKs, Trains, and a few other examples were nice, but ZeXal was so terrible that even the good cards leave a sour taste in my mouth.

Gonna be honest I don't like the dragon designs in Arc-V

This would've all honestly been fine if she'd been allowed to do anything except be a walking stick for 20 episodes. She barely interacted with Yuzu. The only things she did was get Yuzu clothed, get a cool new redesign, show off a ritual, and be pointlessly carded to make Yuri (his own bundle of bad writing) look good.

Chronomaly work as intended. They can make rank 3,4, or 6.
Are they not strong enough as other cards? Are they weak compared to the meta either now or then? Yes, but they are their own thing and have their own style.
Not every card released is as powerful as the others released.
