>flashback to childhood
Shit. Whippersnappers don't even know.
How does Doga Kobo do it? Their anime is always top quality.
How long will it take for them to buy out KyoAni?
>sitting like that on a couch to play video games
>feet can't reach the floor
>cut circulation to legs
looks like one of the old fatty ps2s.
Here's sales comparison between DogaKobo and KyoAni after Hyouka (because shitposters love mentioning this point in time as their turning point). At the bottom you can see average sales, total sum of sales averages per series, and total sum gross. You can see that every one of this numbers is bigger for KyoAni despite being fewer shows. Also look at all the companies involved (read: that get a a part of the money) in making Dogakobo's anime vs KyoAni's anime.
I love this one:
Companies involved in Phantom World
Animation Production: Kyoto Animation
Animation Production Cooperation: Animation DO
Asahi Broadcasting Corporation
Nippon BS Broadcasting Corporation
Aichi Television Broadcasting
In-Between Animation: Studio Blue
Online Editing: Imagica
Paint: Studio Blue
Here's a few more of the companies involved in KyoAni anime.
So the more companies involved means the studio gets less of the pie?
That is my understanding of it, yes. Of course, some of these lists aren't complete (Phantom World's doesn't list the committee, Amagi's doesn't mention who did the inbetweens, etc) but even after adding those companies they'd still be ridiculously short compared to Dogakobo's (and not just them). Those lists in the first image I posted seem pretty complete, and they're still half of DK's length.
They've made 2 good anime in 43 years of their useless existence. Legitimately one of the worst studios around. If they went down, anime medium as a whole would benefit from it.
But they're making the aoty 2 years in a row now so that makes up for it
Do re-releases earn them money? Yes? Then they count. Nichijou profited comfortably in the long term at 7,020 Vol. 1 sales, thus it was objectively not a flop.
are you kids serious that is literally the PS3 slim that came out in like 2009
Also, isn't she supposed to be 12 in that flashback? You could be 12 when the PS3 was out and still be older than 21.
>ps3 came out in 2006
>it's been 11 fucking years
>she was younger when she got the ps3 than I was when I got the ps2
