Lelouch had a crush on Euphy when he was a kid but not anymore. He probably crushed under the sin of tainting her name and killing her but that is another matter.
Shitley too is similar to Euphy in this manner. He liked the affection she gave to her but that was all. He felt terrible when her dad died and eventually she heseld died.
Kallen too seemed to be willing to follow Shirley in her footsteps but Lelouch didn't want another tragedy so he rejected her. I don't think he didn't like the fact that she liked him but he wasn't really into her, at all.
Lelouch always, I mean ALWAYS favorited Suzaku no matter what. He liked him very much, most likely Suzaku was his all the time second favorite human after Nunnally. That gave Kallen a big butthurt especially when she was trying to be his right hand. I think she envied Suzaklu more than she did for CC.
CC was his partner, retainer, trustee and equal. His relationship with her wasn't blatantly romantical but special in its own way. Her pairing makes the more sense than the rest of the contestants. Lelouch always wanted to change the world and she enabled him to do so and was the only one that companied him through his journey.
The Zero requiem was successful only because his favorited allies were accompanying him on it.

R2 was damn near unwatchable at times but man, the glorious ride in the final 5 or so episodes where Lelouch, Suzaku and C.C. joined forces made up for the tedious torture we had to endure.

I still giggle like a mad man every time I rewatch this scene.

Kallen was an egotistical faggot who was willing to follow Zero/Lelouch only if he reciprocated her feelings. She was willing to go as far as betraying her friends and her country for him even though she didn't really understand him nor was even trying to. She was like a fangirl who wanted her idol to like her back but converted to be a hater for him because he rejected her. That was all there was to her.
Her fans seem to be arguing that she was loyal but that is wrong. She was a good subordinate to her boss zero but wasn't really loyal to him, willing to follow after him only if he liked her back.
Only Sayaka, Rolo and Jeremiah were truly loyal to him.

she was already in the resistance when Lelouch was still jerking off to Nunally and played chess. She didnt fight for him, she did fight for her dead brother and her country. Everytime Lelouch started to drift from the course of saving Japan she started to question his motives. She was barely ok with BKs and knighta of justice because it could mean she would have to save people she wanted to get rid off.
Ditching Lelouch at end was consistent with her believes and only her feelings made her question what needed to be done

I'd say you're giving Tamaki too much credit. He did raise one objection about the recording but then immediately jumped over to the other side and even told Kallen to get out of the way in the hangar. Also, Kallen asked Lelouch several questions when they met, including about his intentions and not only about how he felt. He could have answered any of the questions, one way or another, but instead Lelouch just remained silent. I'd say most events indicate she did care about Japan's freedom so you're being too one-sided there.

I think you're being rather disingenuous. Rolo killed Shirley and would have also killed Nunnally if given the chance, both of which during a time when Lelouch wanted no such thing. Jeremiah was told about the secret behind Zero Requiem, so it's not like his loyalty (which was already a very recent thing) was ever tested.
