Should we redo chapters 117+? Now that we have the volume scans, that is. Also: if we were to redo said chapters, would you rather that we reuse my translations from the mag chapters (inputting corrections in the few places where need be), or should we completely retranslate them?

I think it comes down to your beliefs and pride. Do you care if not many people are following? Do you want to maintain higher quality releases simply because you want to or believe you should? Do you have the time? How invested are you in the series and translation?

From the series I've followed I think you Baki guys are some of the most dedicated and I appreciate what you do, I don't really have an opinion on what you should do though.

There's scanlations through all of S1 and the first few episodes of S2, iirc. I'm working on speeding up those scanlations, but it takes time ;_;

I've heard watching the anime (24 episodes) and then starting on New grappler baki.

The anime has two seasons, the part covered by the first one is translated (Grappler Baki). Read that then watch the second season.

The characters look like this because the manga's art takes heavy influence from Japanese ukiyo-e art (pic related) and from Burne Hogarth's "dynamic anatomy" techniques. Yes, you will love it after a while. The art style of the manga has slowly mutated over the past 25 years so, in Grappler Baki, you get relatively normal-looking characters. Once you get to the third series, you won't even really notice the changes because they've been so gradual.

The convicts weren't "pure" like most of the main cast, and they lost because they weren't as skilled.

Musashi is also "not pure", except he outskills the main cast.

Baki, Doppo, Shibukawa, etc all fought Musashi in battles of their modern convention. Musashi fought with his own conventions. Neither side ever made any attempts at "connecting to" the conventions of the other. If Doppo and Shibukawa were to try to fight Musashi in his convention of battle, they would likely have a massive leg-up.

Imagine if Shibukawa had simply been hiding a knife when he dropped Musashi in their encounter. Instead of being punched in the face and allowed to get back up, Musashi would have been stabbed in the throat or lost an eye or something of the sort. In their actual fight, Shibukawa did not have a knife because that style of fighting was not according to his modern conventions. The same would happen in an alternate Doppo encounter, only without a weapon, and requiring a lot more 'technical' skill.

I say that they merely didn't realize that they already knew how to beat him. Motobe's fight was necessary in order to clarify that fact.

I just realized what we're in store for. Musashi is simply going to do what he did to Gaia's ballistic knife; he's just going to catch the balls, and the cops are gonna be all WHOOAAAA, he'll say something intimidating, and then next week's chapter will be over.

I really don't want to get carried away and say something crazy like this is the worst Baki series or something like that, but i can say this is the most tedious one so far.
