You are thinking of Katsumi and Retsu during their maximum tournament bout, during which Katsumi's ''supersonic'' fist is just a tag line.

Later on, during the Hanma Baki/Baki:son of ogre manga, Katsumi does develop an actual supersonic punch to fight against a preserved superhuman caveman named Pickle (yes, this is an actual thing that happens).

If you like the series and haven't read up to that part, I highly recommend you to get on that, since it's just an insane amount of fun.
