Since there's a new YGO movie releasing next month here in the west, I thought it would be cool to dump the original manga which the movie is based off of. For those of you who only ever watched the anime, I highly recommend reading the manga as it's much darker and better written than the anime was imo. There's also none of the fillers you have to deal with. Since the movie is releasing on Jan 27, 2017, I will dump one volume a day leading up to its release.
Today we complete the YGO manga. Everything has led up to this point, to this final battle.

Yeah, there are tons of problems with that part. Also, their decks made no sense. Both were still using Duelist Kingdom cards for some reason, Atem using Gaia and Curse of Dragon, and Yugi was using Buster Blader and shit which made no sense. It's been quite the journey but I hope you enjoyed the manga and now have a greater appreciation for the original story beyond just being some kind of card game commercial. There are great themes, characters and an overarching story that encompasses many types of games.
There were some bumps especially in the BC arc but I hope that one day this manga will have excellent scans all around so that future readers can enjoy this story.
With that being said, the ride isn't over just yet.
Tomorrow we will finish storytime with TRANSCEND GAME, a special 2-part manga serving as a prequel to the Darkside of Dimensions movie centering on our dear old friend, Seto Kaiba!

Rebellion really made no sense. Here everything makes sense. Especially when you go back and read the end of Kaiba and Atem's duel in BC. Atem mentions he sees Kaiba both as a friend and a rival, and he comments that he knows Kaiba feels the same. Kaiba is of course tsun so he won't outright admit it but he feels the same. Kaiba is under the impression that his rivalry/friendship will go on with Atem and they'll have many more duels, but poof Atem leaves. Everyone gets closure but him. He needs Atem in his life because he's the only person who ever really understood him through their duels. It's not about finally winning or being the best, it's just about having a conversation and the only way for Kaiba to express that is through a duel.

Since Yugi solved the puzzle, he knows Yugi is worthy of that soul and the only way to be worthy of Atem is to defeat the current vessel. He goes all out against Yugi because he knows there's a reason he's the owner of the puzzle. Bakura shows up all smug saying there's no way Yugi will lose because he's chosen for a reason. Yugi wins on his own, proving he's also a great game player, and wins Duke's respect. This is why Duke befriends Yugi.
