KyoAni stopped understanding that anime isn't a real art-form, as it's one of the most heavily consumer-dependant mediums that exist, where you will do OK as you keep your end-consumer happy. Also, the Amagi Brilliant Park re-release BD box is doing pretty bad as well. It's getting released in a couple of days and barely has 1000 points. KyoAni is in trouble.

I know this is bait but Kyoani doesn't need saving. It's still one of the most consistently successful studios around and even if it had money problems it could the blow better than other studios because it does all of its work in-house. It probably won't have problems so soon though cause its consistent success is based on its consistent quality.

So here's a question, why shouldn't KyoAni be held up for being an icon of health in a dying industry? It's a successful anime studio that runs its own publishing on the side. It heads production committees for its own anime so retards in suits don't ruin their shows. Thanks to smart management they have to do very little if any outsourcing and can count on in-house creative talent to flourish. Shows actually cost less for them even though the result is beautiful, and meanwhile they aren't paying animators peanuts and/or docking half their pay for room and board.

The thing about Nichijou is that despite "floping" or being a bad investment it made a cultural impact that will be felt for generations. Lucky star and Azumanga Daioh are still mentioned to date. This show may be another salami-san unfortunately, but we will see.
