Fun thing is that we are having lot of things that "goes against the norm" but we barely got anything that goes by the norm in first place.

I mean, that makes sense when the normal thing has been overdone, but I don't thing normal fantasy is overdone in Japanese media.

The problem with most of those stories is that the "twist" isn't really that twist-y.
Regardless of wether MC is reicarnated as a slime, a goblin, a spider, a dragon, a kobod, a hydra, a shitty human or if he meets loyal companions from the very beginning or gets betrayed and goes full edge, in the end all the stories of that kind that i have seen end up devolving into the same OP Mary Sue MC powerwank.
Why is is to hard for nip authors to make a protagonist that has to struggle through most of the work instead of having him have a shit time for 5 times and then spend the rest of the story "yare yare"-ing because he is 500 times as powerful as any enemy he meets.

This happens to several works, not just Re:monster (Slime, Spirit transger, Arifureta). They play the pragmatic "I don't give a shit" character while having the moral high ground.

I guess being the good boy is too vanilla so they need to be "evil" or "neutral" but they end being just your average good guy.

Deflection is far superior to absorption when it comes to armour.

As a result, you want an armour shape that minimizes the chance of a blow transmitting the entirety of its force into the armour.

Boob plate does the exact opposite of this, because the curvature of it guides every attack to the upper chest directly into the center of the chest, which cracks your sternum if the armour does hold, and results in you being impaled through the heart and right lung if the armour doesn't hold.

Both are very painful injuries that will not result in you being able to leave the battlefield in any good physical condition.
