For Ouroboros it's more like the MC went pragmatic to the extreme after dying. He's dead and from what I can guess he was stuck in Limbo for a bit before being reincarnated. Even after escaping he was scared shitless so much from the experience that he was afraid of going back there the next time or what if he doesn't reincarnate the next time and is forced to stay there forever. He's like fuck no and decides to pursue the only way out of that which would be to achieve what humanity has always craved, immortality. Luckily he ended up in a world with magic and decides to go the alchemy route since he feels it holds the best chance for him to get there. He abandons anything if it will interfere with his work on achieving his goal, just there are shades of edge since he decides things like compassion and mercy will only slow him down and goes total a means to an end route. He actually logically lists all the pros and cons when it comes to acquiring No.1-chan. But yeah the translation rate is slow, I'll still take that rate over nothing though.
