because how weirdly realistic it is considering it's an anime and what happens in it.
Shinji isn't an anime character anymore he's a real 14 year old kid, people say "he's just like a real kid!" in a lot of movie but here there's no sugar coating the cute image, straight up first thing he does is fap, cos he's a 14 year old boy and they do that.
Eva Unit 02 has real accurate weight to it, it's not a backflipping karate kicking robot, it's a huge tank with weight and limited movement.
3rd impact feels like a realistic and accurate representation of the end of the world irl influenced by a god-like force.
