The reason I put Trunks as "the Bulma" is not because he's a genius (because he isn't), but more like in general attitude. Present Trunks would be a slightly spoiled a bit egocentric and flirty young man, just like Bulma was. Of course in one way or another his heart ends up belonging with Mai.

However, I also see Trunks as the lead because of this, he seems like he has room to grow.

Goten, on the other hand seems like the type of character who serves as second banana but deep down doesn't like how Trunks gets to be the leader all the time.

Except that Present Trunks wouldn't be a faggot about it and would actually call Pan's shit if needed. But Pan definitely needs to stay away from GT Pan in terms of characterization. Instead of a bitch in the same vein as ChiChi or Bulma, she would be as sweet and as Gohan, innocent as Goku but a bit more perceptive about certain things like Videl.

A big difference between what you're mentioning there and what Dragonball is doing is that alternate universes in comics are usually excuses to bring back past versions and alternate versions of the characters - while some of that does happen in Dragonball - Champa, Frost and now that girl with Brolly's transformation - most of the characters are new.

That's the issue with canon and continuity. Sure, if they go "OH SHIT, that's Broly with Boobs!" and Gohan adding "What, again?!" Then yes that makes Broly canon.

But the movies themselves can't be canon due to timeline issues, so what would become canon is a different version of Broly. Probably the one we'd see in a flashback.

No really, that's it. The fight scenes were nice, the work on the image was good, Broly put back the "legendary" in the "legendary super saiyan", and he had imagery that was usually associated with the heroes, making him graphically easier to approach than Cell.
