There are hints throughout the entire series that Sora isn't quite right in the head. Her obsession with Haru, for one, and her pathological hatred of Nao, going as far as to continually type "I hate Nao, I hate Nao" in her computer.
The anime takes the VN and cranks it up past 11 in terms of it's characters. Sora is nowhere near this bad in the VN, and is willing to let Haru be with someone else, in their route. Nao is far more cheerful from the get go, and isn't as reluctant to meet Haru at first. And the most telling, Kozue is left a psychological mess in the anime, but she mostly gets over it in the VN
