The fastest running posture is completely upright with your entire upper body relaxed, even your face, arms going back and forth for momentum, with all your muscular power focused on your legs doing an open stride as fast as possible. Anything else is just wrong.

The point of that stance is to have both arms ready to parry incoming attacks from any angle while running.
You also keep your head low, making it harder for guards to see your face, especially at night.

It really only works for the finish line, when they only care that a part of you crosses the line first. In which case you're better off doing a running dive with arms pointing in front of/above your head.

Your arms are about 20-30lbs depending on how fucking fat you are, so If you run with your arms idle thats just dead weight dragging you back. You should be pumping your arms straight forward to help make forward momentum.
