Seemed like shoujo shit to me with some fujoshit elements. Ended up dropping it though for the very reason that it felt to me like I wasn't in the target audience.

I think of this show a lot because of the way that one character said "the essence of cooking is insight and incisiveness." It's so true

I liked it but felt like the author didn't execute the story to its full potential. I think that a series that pleases all (or at least most) consuming demographics in a non conflicting way would be very interesting so see.

I don't think this is possible because the very things that some find appealing are what ruins it for others.

The only shows that manage to do this are those which focus on something entirely different, e.g. mecha battles, regular drama, etc. - as soon as you introduce the sexual/romantic element things become too divisive.

Maybe if the author can come up with stories for popular niches that start separated and only cross in clever and meaningful ways there could be something. It'd be pretty neat but I doubt manga/anime authors have the writing prowess to deliver.

Perhaps it is, but I feel that the parts that don't appeal to people would only distract them from the parts they do like, leaving them in the position where they wished the anime was only about that rather than having all that extra clutter that they don't like being ultimately less pleasing for everyone to watch.
