These characters are always running left and right for various reasons but the show fails to make it have any weight.

Gundam is very far from hard scifi, especially early gundam. What he lucked out on was being one of the first to use giant robots as tools of war between humans and when the plamo started coming out after it ended Bandai started using that concept to market the plamo as "Real Robots" to make them stand out from other giant robot cartoon's toys.

And most of the stuff about the particle technology and the like was actually come up with by the fans and then formerly adopted by Sunrise afterwards.

Reco's pretty good.
Its story suffers a lot from pacing because Tomino didn't get 50 episodes,so a lot of story elements get thrown out the window.
For example proper Characterization is only given to a few of the main cast, and all the minor characters act really cartoony, but everything else is A+ material.

Mecha designs
OST
Animation quality
Battle choreography
Sound design
VA casting

The Atmosphere and world building is also handled pretty well, it's like the show was more concerned with showing its world than it was its characters and story, but hey I'm not complaining.

If the show had 50 episodes it would've easily been one of the best anime of that year.

I wish I had a better webm, but the show's animation was a real treat.
