I dropped Mob Psycho but just because it wasn't my cup of tea, to each their own.
I don't think ONE really cares for which series most people will remember him.
There's also the special history to him and Murata that is connected to OPM.

Something very black/white and simple to grasp will always attract more attention than more nuanced work. It's not a bad thing. OPM is a summer blockbuster while Mob Psycho is more cerebral
