He didn't spend forever training though, that's the whole point. He literally used his bullshit level of power and talent to cheat up to the level of masters in a fight despite only have basics, but when his master also has somewhat similar levels of bullshit power along with tons of actual experience and trained skill he's just not on that level. Hence the former chief showing up and going "Hey since you actually hate your old master now I'll train you into an actual martial artist that can kill him because I also hate him".
