A VN where the ancient aliens that sparked many major human civilisations have returned after thousands of years, ignorant of the current state of affairs on Earth. The aim is to sway naive alien benefactors over to the Anti-Committee's cause while dealing with extreme cultural clash, sufficiently advanced technology and Committee efforts to sabotage you and court alien favour.
>>
>>152475013
I make a hardcore nukige with the three protags encountering a group of aliens in the Nazca Lines of Peru shapeshifted into clones of 20-year old Maho wearing various traditional asian garb like kimonos, chinese dresses, and catgirl meido outfits. The entire VN is one long orgy sex scene with the alien Mahos getting stuffed in every available hole all set to a selection of Mozart's most famous compositions.

>MCs will need to foil the committee's plans by shutting down that satelitte with the help of previous SciAdv characters like Daru's hacking skills, Akiho gigant robot, and protag mercenary

>>152493357
I hope that those guys would go and make a more complete version of 0. It's got such potential to really develop Fubuki's story into a solid path, and yeah, the sprites not getting totally updated is kind of jarring to me. 5pb should have had everyone redrawn so that Kurisu doesn't look out of place to "Kurisu"
>>
I don't know who she is, but she is adorable.

She from S;G 0?
>>
>>152493012
Like an 8 or 7 to S;G's 10.

The beginning was really good but the second half didn't hold up compared to the original. It introduces some interesting concepts but doesn't manage to explore them, the nonkey endings write characters out of the story, and too much time is spent on this one particular character that isn't very interesting. A lot of the endings feel like they're just spinoff bait instead of being their own conclusion to the story. It could have really used some tighter writing.

The story is far too random. There is a lot of temporal messing behind the scene you never know what from or by whom. Your actions don't have any meaningful or logical impact on the world. The very first important branching choice is entirely uncorrelated with what you actually choose. Either you take choice A, and there is a random modification to the timeline that pops out immediately afterward, or you take choice B, and there is another entirely unrelated random modification to the timeline that pops out.

The story is really incoherent. SG's story was the epitome of time travel done right. SG0's story is full of plot-hole, random timeline modifications unrelated to what you actually decide to do, characters that pop in and out without rhyme or reasons. It is slow, it is boring by moment, it is shit at worst and decent at the very best.

Also Kagari a shit. Kagari a fucking shit. Kagari the biggest shit ever, except maybe in Recursive Mother Goose.

There were people there who defended Okabe magically going into superposition between Steins Gate and R world line, and then collapse the waveform to be at R for no apparent reason. Some don't even mind the inconsistency with how Kurisu went back in time twice in time and kissed Okabe when he's ran over by a truck in the first instance. Kurisu didn't even undo her first botched attempt!

Presumably it's similar to how you deleted the mail from Echelon and shifted the worldline then, but that had a much clearer chain of cause and effect and was presented in a way that made it look more acceptable than turning off the phone even if they run off the same principles.

Okabe's legit broken PTSD and this is asking him to fight causality just for a "maybe it'll all work out". Seriously, you have to be mentally deranged to assume that Okabe has less balls and compare him to Shinji.
Shinji unlike Okabe isn't even willing to try to connect to the society, when Okabe does that despite how utterly detached has has become. Shinji may share a self-hatred with Okabe, but he is utterly lacking when it comes to having a grasp of causality.

I have a theory, and I don't usually like to claim this but for once I legitimately believe it was reddit-centric. They're the ones who don't see anything wrong with the dub and actually like the movie. They're also the ones who tend to either gloss over or straight up disregard the mechanics and rules of the SciAdv universe, considering them uninteresting or flawed because they don't understand it. Of course they'd flock to a S;G movie thread while not frequenting a 0 thread since they know less about it and don't care or think it's bad, again due to a failure to understand worldline mechanics and time travel in SciAdv.

>>152494478
Being able to tolerate dubs is the biggest giveaway, especially considering how terrible the one for S;G is.
>>
>>152494628
It's utterly useless. Makise's memory, time machine, personality file and memento are lost, and Okabe looks like the ultimate nutjob with that open declaration that stratfor and others who are now in the firefight would assume that he doesn't know any detail. The priority would be to try getting out of Akihabara alive in one piece.
>>
>>152494628
There's an enemy helicopter right there that has no hesitation blowing up ground troops with rocket launchers, and the divergence hasn't changed much from the timeline where Leskinen and the majority of the Stratfor ground agents die.

Okabe is guaranteed to make it out of all the ensuing chaos thanks to his 2025 plot armor death and everyone there who knows anything is probably going to be slaughtered very shortly.
>>
>>152494370
I don't care.

You can write a good PTSD broken character with agency. It isn't that difficult.

What's shit is that Okabe's PTSD brokenness means that he never does anything at all in THAT story. Never. When people asks him to do something, he tells them 'nope'. When he should do something or else die horribly, he still doesn't. He is passive. He is absolutely, ridiculously passive, save at the very end of Vega & Altair and The Promised Rinascimento.

You can't have a good VN where the main character and protagonist simply doesn't do anything at all for 90% of the time. A depressive main character? Sure, you can have that, no problem. A Shinji Ikari? M8 please. I didn't pay 0 dollars as I pirated that shit to read the diary of a depressive teenager with extreme passivity issues.

It's not the only issue with SG0. Add to that the random plot, the numerous incoherences, the shitty new characters (except Maho, she is chill), the bad pacing, etc. SG0 is not a good VN. It is a decent VN at the very best.

>>
>>152494692

It's not even that. It's that they don't have any fucking interest in the rest of the series at all. Their priorities and that of a typical /a/ user are entirely different. They just don't fucking care about the setting, themes, and information SciAdv offers a piece of with S;G. They're just there for drama or something. The romance or neat idea that S;G is real or something. I couldn't understand it when I talked to people who admitted they browsed /r/ anime or the S;G subreddits.

>>152494736

One of the people I talked to along with others who I've seen express similar opinions were all completely nonplussed when I made points about the dub changing Daru's character entirely along with Mayuri. The fact that Mayuri's impactful lines were dumbed down or removed in the dub just didn't seem to matter to them. They didn't see the problem with a character being changed from the source material. It's like they don't even care about the original or dismiss it simply because it isn't in a cultural context or language that's easy for them to understand.
>>
>>152495138
Daru's utterly incredible. He's a man with a sense of purpose, and we see him doing everything to make sure to help his daughter get a better future. He's a total bro.

Mayuri has become that protag that she was denied of being in S;G. That's the Mayuri that Suzuha refers to as Mayu-neesan with respect. I really did cry when Mayuri decided that she must be a lab member to Kyouma's lab before being Okarin's hostage, and then she goes off on her one-way mission.
>>
>>152493572
I feel it important to make the point that Kurisu is still a Japanese citizen as far as we know. It amazes me the number of people that don't get that Okabe is teasing her about that stuff.
>>
>>152494905
Okabe's agency wasn't that bad for a man who has given up entirely on the future. I feel like you've probably erased everything to do with Kagari's subplots which I don't blame you for because I almost did the same thing, but he did try in that because he felt guilty to Suzuha over everything and he did confront FB. And I don't think you can blame him for a lack of agency in some of the endings when they clearly try to write off most of the characters for a quick wrap up.

His life basically sucks and he does try to make something of it. That something just doesn't have anything to do with time travel.

That movie is so fucking stupid.
>>
>>152495220
Maybe there's something deeper than that.
I fundamentally believe that Redditors doesn't understand the sociological background that Steins;Gate built itself on. S;G requires its audience to really immerse itself with chan "culture", and possess at least a modicum of scientific and technological understanding to approach the story. Frankly, S;G does not cater to an audience that doesn't care about the setting whatsoever, for this man vs. nature story requires one to be involved, if not obsessed about the mechanics that drive this drama.

4chan, for better or worse, is not foreign to the 2ch counterculture, and every anonymous who's lurked to any extent would be aware of everything from conspiracy /pol/fags to heated arguments about the nuances of worldbuilding which requires exposure to all literature that exists for that given series. This subsequently means that /a/ posters would actually make attempts to reinforce his view on S;G through the source with much greater rigor than Redditors would.

What I did find a little annoying is how that Maho doesn't carry herself as what a 4th-gen would do. Maho's in the scientific realm which means that she would not be completely immersed in the small immigrant community, which was already very unlikely given what WW2 did to Japanese communities in America. Most 3rd gen would recognize a heritage, but they would be really removed from the cultural norms of their heritage by and large.
Maho would most likely be quite removed from that immigrant community on that course of scientific pursuit in her social circle.

Sempai-kouhai relationship for one is not something that Maho would have an affinity to, maybe with Kurisu, but it'd be weakly if at all. Maho knowing how to speak Japanese is something that I would be impressed honestly in real-life.

How is that Maho would be this in tune with present-day Japanese social norm? That boggles me.

(slightly triggered cause I am a 1st gen immigrant)
>>
>>152495220
The dub also has some really fucking lazy writing that doesn't make sense in either language. For instance, in the dub, Kurisu responds to being called 'Christina' with 'There's no -tina!'. This doesn't make sense. In Japanese and English, her name is not Chris. It's Kurisu. In Japanese that would actually kind of work, but in the dub the voice actors make a distinction between 'Kurisu' and 'Chris'. So we're left with a line repeated constantly throughout the anime that doesn't really make sense in either language.
The only way I can see it having come about is the translator not understanding that you don't translate names. He somehow got it through his head that in English she should be named Chris, but opted to leave all other references to her name untouched.
>>
>>152495904
I wouldn't mind say Leskinen pronounce Kurisu's name that way, but I have a problem with va saying Chris when they know better.

Maho is somehow purely Japanese despite her family being in America for so long as well. I'd just chalk it up to the fact that she's written by Japs with strange ideas about America.
>>
>>152495220
Are you really sure most of /a/ is concerned with the rest of the setting either?

I'm willing to check out other stuff by 5pb because I liked S;G and thought it was very well done, but it doesn't really sound like the other stories that I haven't yet immersed myself in contain what I necessarily liked from S;G. The R;N and O;9 anime don't exactly inspire a large amount of confidence either.
>>
>>152496076
I know what you mean. I for one refuse to look at C;H/C;C.
>>
>>152495855
Probably something to do with not knowing how to write a westerner. In the original S;G, most of the jokes about east versus west were rooted in Okabe having a really weird view of America. Other than a few little things like Kurisu asking for a fork for her noodles they never tried to make her 'American-y'. This had the added bonus of any weirdness of the writer being easily written off as just Okabe being weird.
When it came time to write Maho, they probably panicked and figured it easier to talk up the 'Japanese' half of Japanese-American. Since writing her like a normal human being that has a different passport and doesn't quite get a few cultural things is super hard.
>>
>>152495976
The real problem is that she's correcting him incorrectly. In English, Kurisu and Chris are unrelated but she's effectively telling Okabe to call her Chris. The entire point of dub rewrites is to remove issues like this, not introduce more of them.
>>
>>152496107
I just don't think its worth to try and experience the other VNs in the series since they seem to be so adamant on not bringing them here.

Well, I guess I mean the posters in SciAdv threads. Even if people aren't interested in the settings and themes the C;X series offers, they still know enough about them to talk about them. They show more interest or awareness of them than a redditor. Maybe it's just the influx of people new to SciAdv in general who came here within the last two years because before I'd never seen people in these threads who didn't know what C;C or C;H was other than one post every 10 threads asking about the VN.

Maho was misused at times, Amadeus was grossly underused, Leskinen was shit, shit happens for no reason (the Russians did shit because he picked up the fucking phone within seconds of it being picked up?), WW3 segment should've been explored better, Kagari was the biggest waste of tits I have ever seen, art was godawful with raging QUALITY left and right, sprites were JUST tier, story felt all over the place (due to different parts being written by different people), true ending could've been explored more, Luka dying was an asspull, Moeka was used as a plot device in most routes where she appears, besides Twin Automata and mostly, not enough Kurisu. Judy was OK, and Mayuri was an actual character for the last x mins of Altrair and Vega, Mr. Braun could've used more exploration. Daru was fucking amazing except for that off-character punch when Maho spewed pure garbage at Okabe who had suffered more PTSD that she could possibly imagine.
It was a jumbled fucking mess of a game, thus its a 5/10 at best.

Okabe has drawn the curtain on saving Kurisu with only one trial. This isn't like how things went with respect to Mayuri where he's had hundreds of trials to support his hypothesis that he cannot prevent attractor field convergence in that given timeline. Besides, Okabe had previously demonstrated that the event trajectory is dependent on prior actions' butterfly effect over time, which Okabe never took to exploit with regards to Kurisu in alpha worldline.

Maho wouldn't have any reason to think in Okabe's shoes, being a pair that she didn't have time to even get to know. I don't think what she said is far fetched at all, as grating and condescending as it may sound.

Next time i dreamed about it i knew about the agents, trying to escape i bump into my university teacher who tries to help me, but ends betraying me
And i've been having these kind of dreams for 2 months already

True end is about 5-10 min long. Don't expect much, cause then you'll be disappointed like I was.
>>
>>152514579
Why are you disappointed by Kyouma going off to save Mayuri and Suzuha who are stranded 60 millions years in the past?

Given the length of the true end in the original, I was just expecting more. It would have been nice to see what happens after this scene >>152494571 and some of the events leading up to 2025.

I'd rather they just polish up 0

It seems like it'd be hard for them to shoehorn in Kurisu into some 2011-2025 spinoff since they already stretched it really hard with Kagari here

How does Kurisu, a girl that lives and breathes memes, not get corrupted by that mindset?

>Some don't even mind the inconsistency with how Kurisu went back in time twice in time and kissed Okabe when he's ran over by a truck in the first instance. Kurisu didn't even undo her first botched attempt!

This is completely consistent with the original, though. It's the same as when Okabe goes back to execute Operation Skuld after killing Kurisu. In the VN they explain how when you time travel back you're already in a minimally different world line, so there'll never be two time traveler versions of you.

Then you don't understand what it's like to fail in that context.

I've only ever worked in a really chill lab so I wouldn't know, but I think it's a little ridiculous to compare any workplace experience to the feeling of watching your childhood friend die several times, destroying the wishes of your friends, and then killing your lover twice.

Welp.
I just finished it.
Platinumed it in a really clean way, I'm actually proud.
As for the ending itself, it felt more like a bonus, but it's a great bonus.
I liked it.
8/10
Great game, worth getting plat.

Is Maho in a panda pajama the epitome of everything that's cute in this world?
>>
>>152519071

The root is the same. Blaming yourself and giving up on your hopes, dreams, aspirations, and any semblance of confidence you had in yourself. There's enough self-loathing to cripple yourself for life. Some people are capable of overcoming it, some aren't. Both Maho and Daru's rants against Okabe were well deserved and extremely fitting in my opinion, but I may be biased due to my background.

>>
>>152520235
When you generalize it that far you can apply it to any sort of situation where you give up, like giving up a hard video game level. The scale of what Okabe went through just isn't comparable to Maho's jelly.

They were good rants, and at the same time Okabe's reactions to them are completely justified.
>>
>>152521030
Honestly it was impressive that the narrative took Okabe's side. I expected him to magically get over it for a second.
