I see a lot of you have made the point that the only reason for Reika to win would be just because she has big boobs and would be self insert or wish fulfillment

I can see where you come from, and I'm pretty sure it's what Oku thought. But there's a big problem with that.

The difference between Reika and Tae isn't about one being ugly but loving and caring, and the other being an obsessed titty monster. I can see how it was thought out like that

But the problem is that in all the missions, Reika's character gets developed a lot until she actually becomes one of the most useful members of the team and can even kill the Alien K2 and the team couldn't by herself. She shows true concern for Kurono and the other members even if she is obsessed with her love for him.


Tae is meant to be a frail, but caring and loving character. But that's where Oku is a shit writer. Through the entire series, there's not a single moment where Kurono's love for her doesn't come from having to protect her. She doesn't do anything aside from screaming KEI-CHAN while getting herself into trouble. And I'm not talking about fighting. I'm talking about showing that she cares for Kei and proving what the author wanted to prove.

The only think Tae does all series is cling onto Kei not out of love, but out of need. The only words she says over and over again to him are that she won't lose him or let him go, and that she needs him. She is really manipulative towards Kurono and there's never the feel that she is the good but human girlfriend the author tries to give us. The readers have no reason to care about her, and Kurono's only emotional link seems to be the fact that she is in danger because of him.

Plus the fact that the entire last 2 arcs are dedicated to undermining Reika's character shows that Hiroya Oku probably was angry at the fact that readers did not see his characters the way he intended it to be.
