Just finished this.
>only meaningful/interesting arc is the first one
>the rest of the mysteries aren't interesting
>characters are all walking cliches
>on top of being cardboard cutouts, all the characters are also annoying as hell
Why does /a/ like it so much?
As a fervent kyoani fag I can tell you that the characters are indeed very weak, Satoshi is the only interesting one and that's towards the end. Having said that, I loved the mysteries and everything else.

The "talent vs hard work" theme gets thrown around a lot in anime, but I thought Hyouka did a good job addressing it.
Oreki being changed (or at least carried along) by Chitanda and the literature club as a whole is an interesting overall arc. Case in point, Oreki at the beginning of the series never would have confronted Satoshi as aggressively over the Valentine's chocolate as he did.
I thought the movie mystery was interesting, but overall they're not really the point, so I'm willing to overlook how weak they feel.
I'm not going to call you a faggot for not liking it, but that's why I enjoyed it.

I think it gets better halfway once the stories feel more like actual SOL with a bit of mystery rather than exposition forever.
but yeah it's far for my favorite Kyoani.

Also, I'd say /a/ is pretty split on Hyouka. It's not universally beloved here by any means.

I agree with this anon. The mysteries are scooby-doo tier and the expositions are mind-numbingly boring.

I love spot the newfag threads
It's been a while since I saw it but the only arc I remember specifically disliking was the movie one
>hyouka isn't perfection
nice bait thread
