What went wrong?
Nothing.

>wrong
Nothing. It was Kimi no Kino
It was good.... but them losing their memories was a bit unnecessary and they left the reason for it out. It felt a little forced and the ending left a bitter taste.
They should have agreed to meet each other after he had helped her save her village. They should have went with something like "Promise you'll never try to make contact with me for the next 3(?) years or else I may never come to save you." or something.

Oh and then put her older version in background shots of his parts in the movie. Not creeping on him or anything, but kinda just hanging around. Fuck I can't write, but this would have been gold.
>>152420873
The movie constantly harps their whole situation being linked to dreams and dreaming. One of the hallmarks of a dream is you start to forget it as soon as you wake up. Pretty obvious theme going on.
The memos being deleted and shit, that can only be time-fuckery which has much less reason to swallow.

How is Mitsuha able to adapt to finding shit in Tokyo so quickly? Wasn't she just a country bumpkin?
I know people that still can't find shit in the city they grew up in.
>>152420553
No enough dicks in my ass.
>>152430496
I guess she spent enough time as taki to figure out where he might be
there are plenty of plot holes if you think about it but it's not really the point of the film
>>152430496
she uses maps
the better question is why the heck was mitsuha finding taki-kun in the train station? why not in the school?
>>152430496
The same way they met again in Tokyo.

>Reached 10 billion yen 9 days faster than Frozen
>Considered for an Oscar
>Wins LA Film Critics Award
>Has become the no. 1 highest-grossing Japanese movie in China
>Has become the no. 1 movie in Thailand
>The film immediately topped Korea's box office opening on 555 screens all around the country which is a new record for the Japanese film.
>Also dominated China breaking the all-time records for the most advance tickets sold and the fastest film to reach 100 million yuan ($ 14 million or 1.7 billion yen), with the first 100 yuan earned in just the film's opening day.
>The film also dominated the charts of Hong Kong and Taiwan becoming the number 2 and top highest grossing Japanese film on the respective countries

So this is meme magic. Not bad.

I was hoping so, too. Unfortunately I just checked the list of animated pictures this year, and it's gonna struggle to even make it to top 5.
>zootopia or Moana
>finding Dory
>Kubo of the two strings
>obligatory French title/ The Little prince
>
The last slot has stiff competition, and Kubo already checks off the "Japanese" box.
I want it to win as much as anybody, but knowing the trend in the oscars, it's not likely.
>>152433386

>There's already a doujin about this
Taki could've done with some more characterisation.
Showing what happened with Mitsuha and her dad in the epilogue would've been nice.
And we didn't see enough of Teshi or his childhood friend in the first half.
Aside from that, it was good. I enjoyed it. 10/10 soundtrack, 10/10 visuals, 10/10 emotions.
