I don't hate tv Diana, but I agree that OVA DIana was a more flawed character and those flaws consequently made her more likable.
tv Diana comes across as diluted, like someone came in and said "Goodness no, you can't have a cute girl acting mean. People will hate her!" and so she was cleaned up into this depiction we have now.

I don't think Diana needs to come off as an insulting bitch, and it's a little too late for that anyway considering the path they already went ahead on with the character. That might be the western approach, considering it's often adopted by western fanartists when drawing comics for characters like Street Fighter's Karin Kanzuki, but it won't fit as well now. It would have to be triggered by Akko's ongoing behavior and especially attitude throughout the series instead, such as if Akko's behavior/attitude makes it clear that she's taking the craft for granted and Diana would have to be personally vexed by it to the point that she lashes out at her and starts calling her everything but the kitchen sink. It won't be the western-style egotistical bitch, though.

If anything, TV Diana seems infinitely more likely to be a love interest of Akko than OVA Diana ever did. OVA Diana was kind-of a bitch deep down, whereas TV Diana has only really been shown to be rather kind and loveable deep down.

OVA Diana was never a bitch. She basically did the exact same things as TV Diana. Their only difference so far is that OVA Diana fucked shit up way more than TV Diana when she unleashed the ancient dragon.
