> As of this past week, Makoto Shinkai's your name. anime film has surpassed Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away film in worldwide box office earnings. According to the Box Office Mojo website, Shinkai's film has earned a total of US$281 million worldwide to beat Spirited Away's US$275 million.
Hayao Miyazaki on suicide watch.
>All the while Americuck still can't watch it.
>Japan BD release
>while the movie still sells and hasn't lost the momentum
>the theme is romance
>February is also the month of love
I bet they will extend screening period again.
Not as good as 5cm or the Garden but probably better than the rest. No one is saying it's the best as far as I can see, it's just the most popular. I think Shinkai deserves recognition after how much work he's put in over the years.
It's not groundbreaking but better than decent. It's honestly a great movie. They fuck up one or two things but not enough to fuck up the film
Personally the art and music were amazing and they just had really impactful, meaningful scenes. You walk away from the movie feeling really fucking good.
The biggest reason this movie is fucking amazing is that it is suggesting the beginning of an anime renaissance. Where the industry will finally have to stop pandering to the mentally ill autistic retards that purchase all the merchandise and fund them.
What the fuck is so good about this film.
I need subs already.
Hey if they can finally make money without embracing autism then the industry will change.
Just imagine all the animes that have been made and how much greater they were if they weren't dripping tropes.
Soul Eater is the best example. First episode is going great and then suddenly the whole fucking episode is derailed into this bullshit subplot about the pair not being able to defeat a witch, repeatedly, because Evans keeps having a stroke due to the size of her breasts. Because they know they have to push the fetish/r34 bullshit to make it captivating to the autistic loner perverts who will write more fan art and spread it online and buy their merchandise.
If anime can just lose the bullshit tropes (most noticable sexuallizing underage girls) it will be a fucking renaissance.
I got so fucking pissed at the twist cause I thought they were going to pull a "Bridge to Terabithia" bullshit tragic ending. so fucking glad they didn't. actually worked out really well cause the audience is actively hoping for a happy ending which they get
The problem is that this board still thinks the best anime should be the most popular and they freak out when it doesn't happen. As if the movie doesn't deserve its popularity because it isn't the best. Then they descend into finding every flaw possible and become contrarians acting as if it's even a bad or shit movie because they are trying to convince everyone else that it doesn't deserve to be as popular as it is.
It's a decent movie and it's annoying how fucking pessimistic the autists on this board have to be because they can't handle something being popular and mainstream.
Oh it's totally possible that this is just a one shot and the industry doesn't change. It's just that the movie increases the chance that it will.
And it might just be me, but I'd consider the industry to have a renaissance when I can tell people I watch anime and they don't immediately, and justifiably, think I have a mental or social disorder.
Hollywood is making a ton of money and 95% of the movies they make are absolute garbage. It's all sequels, prequels, remakes, reboots and adaptations of books, comics and short stories. Now some would argue that anime is no longer a niche medium, but I'd prefer it to stay the way it is.
If Miyazaki's success didn't change anime in the way you're thinking, then you can be certain Shinkai won't. Your Name is a heck of a lot more trashy than most other successful anime films too, so I don't even know where this is coming from. Teen body-swapping romcom is right in line with people's perception of anime.
Not sure why so many people on /a/ shill for the Oscars. Sure, it would be nice to get a nomination, but voters are horribly biased towards Holywood movies, so you'll probably see the same Disney trash being pushed again this year.
The pic is from a thread 2 days ago, where an anon had relatives who vote on the movie, therefore having access to a 480i streamer. They are normal DVD's, but have a large hardcoded identification numbers (like Nazo's chinksub as well) and it's very likely that anon doesn't want to be identified.
Though it would be nice since these would be in actual decent 480p rather than the interlaced, low rez shit we have right now.
>Hayao Miyazaki on suicide watch.
He'll just say something about how modern audiences have shit taste and don't understand or appreciate real art and storytelling anymore and move on like he always does.
Is it time?
man the salt in the thread is real
hope Shinkai will still be able to delivery another good one in the future.
First of all, get the encode in pic related. It's only slightly better, but the large improvement is that it only has english subs.
Make sure you put the volume at 60% or something lower than normal, since there is slight white noise in the background that totally ruins the experience.
And finally, try to watch it on a large device like a TV, as your brain will be less likely to go full retard because of the quality.
Blurays will come out in 3-4 months, but could be pushed back even further, you never know, and only these lead to proper encodes.
>when will it be out in the US?
>also when is that deaf girl anime movie gonna get ripped?
It only got a cinema release in Japan, a BD hasn't been announced yet.
I am glad Miyazaki was able to see his best Movie being trampled by some Hack's movie right before his death.
As said, it's slightly better.
Here's the MediaInfo If you want to compare it to Nazo's: https://hastebin.com/afovojepis.pas
>audio is the same
>video is minimally better, but it has no interlacing problems which I would see as a huge improvement
Nothing to justify the filesize, but for such a movie I'd go for the best I can get
Nope, it's Nazo's source. Hence the filesize
>Overrated as fuck. It was good yes, but not the best. A few years from now, everyone would forget about this already while Mononoke Hime will remain in the heart of people.
> every news outlet in my country try to push some narrative around the movie
> according to them, a big theme of the movie is supposedly gender identity and attraction to the same sex
did I misunderstood a huge part of the movie or my country medias is infested by kikes ?
Jokes on you, my burger ass watched it on a plane from Japan with English subs. On United flights, there's a phone app that plays movies in-air (not just on the headrest), really surprised no one has ripped that yet.
>Hayao Miyazaki on suicide watch.
>#1 in the Japanese box office for 13 weeks, 12 weekends
>Has surpassed Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle as #2 Anime Film of All Time in Japan
>Earns 20 billion yen and counting to surpass Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Japan
>Reached 10 billion yen 9 days faster than Frozen
>Considered for an Oscar
>Wins LA Film Critics Award
>Has become the no. 1 highest-grossing Japanese movie in China
>Has become the no. 1 movie in Thailand
>The film immediately topped Korea's box office opening on 555 screens all around the country which is a new record for the Japanese film.
>Also dominated China breaking the all-time records for the most advance tickets sold and the fastest film to reach 100 million yuan ($ 14 million or 1.7 billion yen), with the first 100 yuan earned in just the film's opening day.
>The film also dominated the charts of Hong Kong and Taiwan becoming the number 2 and top highest grossing Japanese film on the respective countries
>Inexplicably jumps 41% in the Japanese box office and climbs from 7th place to 3rd place in one week
>On the verge of surpassing Spirited Away's worldwide gross, making it the highest grossing anime of all time
>Still in the top 10 in the Japanese box office towards the beginning of 2017
>Now grossed US$331 million.
>Surpasses the box office gross of Spirited Away (US$289.1 million), making it the highest grossing anime film of all time.
So this is meme magic. Not bad.
> Ou comment on acclimate la question queer ou transgenre (sur un mode soft) à l’anime nippon.
> Romance lycéenne, sexualité ambiguë
> La commutation des genres masculin et féminin permet à chacun d’assumer sa part secrète et de se transfigurer : la timidité de Taki se mue en puissance séductrice et la détermination de Mitsuha en bravoure (elle ose se confronter à un père hautain). Aimer, ce n’est pas seulement se projeter dans l’autre, mais fusionner avec sa différence.
Could have been an incredibly amusing film but went for a generic drama route
journalist in France don't talk about mudslimes, they prefer finding non existing theme is Japaneses cartoon to fit a specific agenda
We are not far behind America for the crazy leftist extremist bullshit
>Where the industry will finally have to stop pandering to the mentally ill autistic retards that purchase all the merchandise and fund them.
Shinkai just did that, actually he surpassed Miyazaki because he achieved such feat by pandering to otaku and normmalfags at same time not just normalfags like Miyazaki does.
>Funimation also revealed that the band RADWIMPS is creating all-new English-language versions of the songs it produced for the original film that will be featured in the English-dubbed version of the film.
>Instead of intermediately release it when its hype was still up, they waste their time on autistic things.
Fuck Funimation, I hope they died in fire and Disney take care of the next piece.
>still 3 months away
Jesus christ I'm never going to see this movie.
>tfw it's still on in LONDON
Almost tempted to go and see it for the
>Funimation Films will open Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name in North America on April 7.
yanks can stop bitching now
Anyone else think the Keit-ai is shitty fucking pasta? You know what? I'm gonna go through this copy pasta line for fucking line to point out how much bullshit it is. I'm totally fine with copy pasta but when you have to change almost every part of it to make sense, it's bullshit.
>A boy falls in love with a girl.
Both of them equally fall in love with each other and it's not until 3/4th of the way in that the word "love" is even said. Both of them fight for each other almost an equal amount, with Taki having the upper hand initially after the "twist" because of the nature of the disaster. It naturally switches to her afterwards and she fights to remember him and change fate.
>Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the girl’s phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
Again the story is never this one sided until after the twist, in which first we see Taki's perspective and then Mitsuha. This fits with the theme of losing the other, we are unable to see both perspectives just as they aren't anymore. Also there is no "unable to confess". The feelings are mutual and at no point are either or them held back from expressing their feeling for the other due to insecurities. They just live the experience until they lose each other, and then the conflict becomes about changing fate, not expressing their love for each other (what a shitty, petty conflict that would be). Also if anything the phone DOESN'T FUCKING WORK. They are unable to reach out to each other, in fact they never speak to each other until the twilight scene. And that scene was about them finally meeting, but also about re-swapping so Mitsuha can take her turn in preventing the disaster (convincing her Dad, something Taki was unable to do). There is way more than "just a crush" going on aka saving the lives of hundreds of people.
>But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day’s confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn’t exist in this universe at all. She is the girl’s alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC’s own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
The only thing close to this event is when Mitsuha goes to see Taki (so again not the guy acting) and Taki isn't in love with anyone. He hasn't met her because of the timeline.
>Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves.
Again why this copy pasta is shit. Nowhere after this meeting do the two meet up to "discuss their inner secrets". They never communicate with each other except through notes, they never actually talk until the twilight scene. And it's not to "equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves." There is nothing about conquering their hearts. There is the basic small plot of trying to live the other's lives and not fuck each other's up (eventually trying to improve the other's live). The main conflict in the movie is the fucking disaster. They never admit secrets to each other. The biggest secrets (Mitsuha's family and the backstory of their tradition with their shrine God) is taught by the grandmother.
Does that take into account inflation and the growth of population and the film industry? The cultural impact it has is likely still insignificant in comparison but I don't know enough about this topic to say for sure.
In any case calm down and wait for the dust to settle before trying to analyze this.
>While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.
Oh look something else that doesn't have anything to do with the story. There are no body doubles, there is no conflict of trying to get the other to fall in love with them. The conflict is about saving Mitsuha's life and the lives of her friends and family. And before that it was about Taki searching for her and the power that brought them together (which eventually leads to the final swap in which Taki realizes they can change fate) and before then it was the very minor conflict of living with the swap and enjoying the power.
This has to be the laziest attempt to force a copy pasta because you lazy bastards are too autistic to actually come up with a new one in the story.
How about criticizing how Taki's father never gets involved with the story and the we hear next to nothing (is it literally nothing?) about his mother. Or how about that bullshit scene during the Twilight when they waste their precious minute together acting like faggots? How she went on a rant about him touching her breasts when she felt up his junk?
Criticize the movie for shit it did, don't try to force some lazy, shitty copy pasta from 2011 on this movie just because you are anally anguished that it's more popular than you think it deserves to be.
the worst part about the meme besides most of it being wrong is that phone being a dues ex machina. the phones, which they both have, never works. the deus ex machina isn't a phone, it's the ceremonial sake she prepared from her own body that he drank in the shrine of their god before he knocked himself out cold and saw the story hidden about the comet before. comparing that to a phone is bullshit
pretty sure they don't say how they get their numbers so I thought they just remembered the other's phone number because, you know, they looked at their fucking phone and had to use their phones over the course of months to live their lives and call the other's family/friends/jobs?
If anything it was a reverse deus ex machina (whatever the fuck that's called) when the message just started deleting themselves off the phone.
Again you retards act like you haven't even seen the fucking movie but are just spouting off bullshit you've heard from people bitching about the movie or with the fucking trash meme
I watched it on kiss anime but it wasn't 1080p
you'd be surprised how many people in America hate music that's not in english. They think the song is stupid if they can't hear the words. Hence why Shakira (random artist to make an example) has one fucking popular song "Hips don't lie" because it's one of the few she sang in english.
Not translating the songs surprisingly might not be a good idea for American audiences
What would be the best time to see it to avoid the other anime shitheads? I don't think I can handle a theater of autistic faggots screaming and cheering and clapping during the fucking movie.
I don't think you'll have the luxury of picking and choosing a time like that, just try to find an obscure theater.
I've been to a handful of anime movies over the last year and it's been pretty decent overall,so you'll probably be fine.
Ironically the worst experience I had was Shin Godzilla and that wasn't even anime.
>Ironically the worst experience I had was Shin Godzilla and that wasn't even anime.
Holy shit, this. I was sitting next to one of the most obnoxious fucking girls I've ever seen.
She would constantly laugh and shout "OH MY GOD!", and I had to shush her every time.
Just for the sake of argument let's assume you are right. There was no possible way they would know each other's phone numbers after using their phones in their daily lives after dozens of swaps over the course of multiple months. It would still not be a dues ex machina. Let's look at the definition:
>a person or thing (as in fiction or drama) that appears or is introduced suddenly and unexpectedly and provides a contrived solution to an apparently insoluble difficulty
In what way does the phone number help AT ALL? Does it help them meet up? Does it start the swap? Does it get the town to evacuate? Does it stop the meteor? Does it help them AT ALL?
It provides literally no assistance. They both call the numbers and the numbers are dead.
It's as if you know nothing about the movie or what "dues ex machina" even means yet are taking part of the discussion anywhere and wasting everyone's times.
Mine theater just laughed at every little fucking thing early on, though I'm thankful no one made a sound during the first atomic breath/city destruction scene. I heard some people say people cheered during that part, and if some faggots ruined that moment for me I would have flipped the fuck out.
Pfff, can't believe you guys don't want to watch the anime movie with anime fans
I mean, how the fuck wouldn't want to experience this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hdJox1D2eU
holy shit why can't they just shut up and watch the fucking movie? You can't even hear anything
and what the fuck was with the grunting? Were those orgasms?
I had a guy say "that's for pearl harbor" as if he was all witty and cool
People started booing and throwing shit at him. Didn't have the balls to walk out but didn't make anymore comments.
For you fucking weebs that don't go to theatre much, this is pretty much the case for every wide release. I honestly try to watch more indie films at theatre and wait to catch up on wide releases at home with the exception of some.
And yet people like to throw around that meme that it's only a small percentage of people that watch anime that are weird.
The high majority are autistic mentally ill retards (hence the years of anime bullshit dripping with tropes) and it pisses me the fuck off.
What do you think happened to them post credits?
Why are people acting like this is an inherent achievement of the film and not considering the social and environmental circumstances that it appeared in?
More people are interested in anime nowadays.
Anime has better marketing and exposure.
More people have the disposable income to watch these kinds of things then a decade ago.
There are more of the kinds of people who are into this kind of thing then there were a decade or longer ago.
The film has adopted meme-like tendency too - in the same manner something small become popular (like a stupid video on youtube) so too has this spread like wildfire in memetic fashion around Asia.
None of this actually says anything about the objective quality of the film though.
It's actually pretty sad that this gender bender slice of life faggotry surpassed Mononoke and Spirited Away.
Just proves that Japan has no future. They are all fucked in the head beyond saving. Might as well nuke them into extinction.
>a literal body-swap doujin has surpassed all of Ghibli's films
As a girl she had responsibilities with her family's tradition. As a boy she would be free from those. It's not "I want to be a boy for the body" but more "I want the freedom our society lets them have" even if it's a small bit. And she also said in Tokyo. Basically she wants freedom in every way possible.
Go ahead, call the cops. They can't unpost it.
WE /HDRIP/ NOW BOYS
Mitsuha is perfect. And Taki is such a lucky bastard because they are literally made for each other.
>after meeting they go out to lunch
>can't even remember each others' names, don't really click
>part ways and never see each other again
The musubi god will actively go out of its way to make sure they're rewarded with a long, happy life together and many children.
They went together down to the cafe Taki and his friends always used to go to, met Tsukasa and Okudera, and she commented on how this must've been the girl Taki fell for when he and Okudera had their date all those years ago. That triggers the barest hint of a memory inside Taki, making him certain that the Mitsuha girl sitting in front of him is the most important person in the world to him.
Can't fight the fate.
It's worth noting that this isn't a recording in a theater, but in a classroom used by a college anime club streaming the Chinkrip on KissAnime.
When I saw it when it screened in Los Angeles, the people in the theater were actually quiet and didn't make any noise at all.
The film is actually great and is one of the big reasons why it is such a huge success. It's just impossible to hate on this movie and the only people who likely will are the contrarians.
Why care about box office figures? Art is not about how much money it makes.
Both Spirited Away and Your Name will be remembered as a classic. The numbers are trivial matter (see: Avatar or Titanic).
He's implying that even though both those movies made big bank, they're not remembered as classics.
I'd say Titanic is remembered quite a bit more than Avatar, true, but I wouldn't call it a real classic.
Completely agree, total shitshow
First half of the movie and all the commercials sell it as a children's movie about two kids playing with their imagination. Then the little girl fucking drowns in the river and the second half because this really dark and depressing story about the little boy dealing with the guilt and loss of his friend and the concept of death.
Still a shit movie but it's a shit movie that makes you feel like shit so yeah fuck it
>Hayao Miyazaki on suicide watch.
Miyazaki is living life comfortable on his bed of cash, while bashing current animators.
I still haven't got to the bottom of why Taki and Mitsuha together makes me so happy.
Oh sure. That's why he got out of retirement... Again... For the 7th time.
Because a lot of us grew up with the fairy tale of having someone meant for you. A soul mate, someone special who would think you were special. And there would be magical experiences between both of you.
We grew older and after many, many years we realized it didn't happen and we probably won't experience it. The movie let us indulge in that again.
Ah, so I'm living vicariously through anime.
Well, it was only a matter of time before I started doing that again.
>tfw I realize my childhood wonder has been dead for so long that I didn't even realize I was experience it
>all the cancer in this thread
Truly, Shinkai has harnessed the financial power of the normalfag and the otaku.
He gets out of retirement because he literally hates the way people do things and knows he can do them better, though.
>he drew a graph of expected audiences' feelings
>it went as expected
>realized that this movie worked too well, he thought 'Damn! Did I went too far?'
This pretty much ensures Shinkai is going to fail from this point on. While good, this is far from being his best, so this selling so well would mean whenever his next films fail to measure up to this success, he will doubt himself whether he's getting better or not. Nevermind the fact all the pressure from news media that would be hounding after him if he fails to deliver in the future, the hype generated from this movie. Calling it now, he will crash and burn within 5 years.
His next piece is in 2019. And I bet he'll expected it to flop like you expected him.
But I'm glad that Miyazaki legend is finally beaten. For a long time, it's like everyone in the industry has been in his shadow. I hope now the other directors would try to go further and beat Shinkai eventually. This way would make anime industry grow.
Depends if youre someone who doesnt put any thought into movies he watches and is easily impressed by forced drama and stunning visuals then this might be one of the best films you have and will ever see. If you dont match that description then it might be somewhere between 5-8/10. I am still mad about the wasted potential. Even I would have given that film a 9.5/10 for its first 60 minutes.
it depends on the US performance. If they can match or exceed the gross of Japan then holy shit, you'll see this movie up with the likes of Dreamworks and Disney. And a lot of investors are going to release the possibilities of that.
I mean fuck, 2019? He has the time, he could create something amazing.
But the problem is that this work really doesn't deserve this level of accolades. He knows it too, so now he will be haunted on how talented he really is if this was the movie that beatened Miyazaki. It would leave a sour taste in any talented person's mouth to get an achievement for a work that clearly didn't deserve it.
/tv/ here, just watched it.
It was honestly a good and cute film, but nothing groundbreaking. Don't understand the whole hype around it. But then again, most films nowadays are shit so finding something decent amongst them is exciting.
Shinkai's other movie about the dude and girl writing letters or something was better imho.
Fuck you anon, you made me remember feels
After they get married, would they pass on their braids to their children, or would they keep the strings all the way to their graves?
>have a special soulmate who thinks you are special
>mfw all the replies
>Implying this won't be before they go to hike in the mountain where they experienced Katawaredoki
>Implying that they start to leave the mountain until they see the sun set and stay to watch until it hits Katawaredoki like all those years ago
>Implying in that moment they won't remember everything
>Implying they won't have sweet mountain sex
>all these boring vanilla ending
Couldn't we get something like: after credit, Taki and Mitsuha wake up, and find themselves being swapped again.
And then Kimi no Na Wa, OL and Salaryman body swapping rom-com SoL TV anime is announced.
I honestly don't understand why ANYONE would use KissAnime when the quality is Komodo dragon shit and it forces you to turn off your AdBlock so that your computer is susceptible to being spamfucked with viruses and adds.
You'd think these dipshits would at least stick to Crunchyroll if they seriously want to support the anime industry, but in reality they're just stupid lazy faggots.
Fuck KissAnime, and fuck its shit-eating userbase.
To be fair, crunchyroll is REALLY bad, way worse than KA. I've used it before and the ads are literally always the same thing, their own promo trailers are awful, and their servers are fucked half of the time. They're both inferior, but CC is wayyy worse than KA.
It's more of the fact that it was just a legitimately great movie with beautiful animation that hit all the right points. Nobody is claiming it's revolutionary. It's just a beautiful movie that hits all the right points.
>Crunchyroll is worse than KissAnime
You are objectively full of shit.
You don't get commercials if you're willing to subscribe to CR, and honestly I can handle the commercials over getting fucking spyware from KissAnime.
CR without the subscription is 480p resolution with commercials, which sucks shit.
But that isn't as bad compared to KissAnime's fuzzy compressed hogshit streaming client that prevents you from watching it with your AdBlock turned on. So you turn off your AdBlock to watch it, then suddenly you're bombarded with pop-up ads, viruses, and spyware.
KissAnime is absolute fucking garbage.
Koe no Katachi will be the best 2017 and all-time anime movie, they said
In wins da Oscarbowl, they said
We are new Ghibli, they said
So... I'm new to /a/ and I just found out that Keit-ai and Kimi no na wa shares a lot of similiraties in terms of plot.
What is this sorcery? Does Shinkai browse this shithole or was it just pure coincidence?
The "pen drop" scene physical hurt to watch. I have no shame in admitting I started tearing up.
The movie perfectly embraces and displays two themes. "Longing" and "Seperation". Anyone who has lived and lost will be inexplicably drawn to this film and deeply moved.
>Hell most people here know it's a forced meme.
Every meme is a forced meme if you don't like any of them.
>“Honestly, I really don’t want Miyazaki to see it because he will see all its flaws."
>implying Miyazaki hasn't seen it, and has been contemplating suicide ever since
>4 more months of Keit-ai shitposting
Au contraire mon cherie.
FYI Baneposting and Keit-ai are the same age.
Why couldn't they just use an anonymous message board to communicate?
Why would two pure souls come to meet and make friends on 4chan?
I was under the impression that it only played at AX and the typical Oscar qualification screenings. This would leave 99% of America and Canada completely fucked, so you might as well say it was never released.
You guys got a good download for this shit? Fuck that 480p chinese rip.
Can someone answer these questions for me?
>How was Taki able to travel back in time?
>How was time able to be reversed?
>How did everyone survive the meteor impact the second time?
>Are there two timelines? Multiverse?
>Why was the time gap specifically 3 years?
>How/Why were they able to body swap?
>Why specifically Taki?
>Why did they so easily fall in love with each other through texts despite never seeing the other person in real life?
I loved the move, it's just a few things about it irked me, but maybe I'm just overthinking it too much.
The language is very unbecoming of a reviewer with the guardian. And hell, it's a few years out of date. Emo? Fallout Boy? It's 2017. Dude should just properly transition to adulthood and do reviews on serious films.
...arent there more people in the world now who watch movies since spirited away? And inflation? Like of course a new popular movie nowadays will make more money than a long standing classic.
Nigger, meme magic for most of those. They evacuated people out of the blast area, the time travel thing was because of the local Shinto gods being bros, since Mitsuha was a priestess and all, same timeline, different times, body swapping is again because of the Shinto gods and Taki I guess was chosen randomly. The text in love thing was kind off yeah, they fell in love way too fucking easy. Though I did enjoy the Rob Schneider parts and the first hour. Rest was meh, imo. Visuals there stood out, sound department was OK. But the amount of details in almost every scene is what makes it all the better. Like go watch it, and just pause in some of those apartment scenes, and just see how much shit they put in there.
What most news outlets give to you are half-truths, or semi-fabrications. Almost never straight up lies. And honestly, that's the best way to lie - make it sound kind of believable.
what are you talking about I watched it in hollywood on the big screen
Friendly reminder that Godmino is right. No one will remember this in 5 years.
3 moar months
and fuck you. this cause delays on the BD
What did she mean by this?
the amount of shit on screen is unbearable
>movie is titled your name
>name is revealed within the first five minutes
>go to bed with the Your Name thread discussing the movie and the future of the anime industry
>wake up to dozens of post derailing the thread with the shitty force meme that has been proven numerous times to be completely inaccurate
I really want the mods to ban you derailing fuckers. Not even /co/ or /tv/ are this determined in ruining discussion threads.
>UK, France and Italy instead of all of western Europe
>Aus and NZ before NA
>only acceptable release dates are in south east Asia
It's like they hate money or something.
Is there an HD available?
A "HD" is available in Mumbai Ripping forum. very High speed!!
OT is decent if you are looking for JAV, it's pretty much irrelevant in terms of other h-material compared to exhentai though.
AB is really good, especially if you are looking for older stuff. Most of /a/ hates seeding and using their brain though, so you'll see shilling against it all the time.
AB won't open applications again.
Your best bet is to get PU on another tracker and get recruited at this point, though I guess you are pretty much fucked if you aren't on either PTH/PTP/BTN/AHD etc. at this point since no relevant trackers have registrations.
>AB won't open applications again.
Wew, I guess I AM fucked. Why aren't they going to open registrations anymore?
man I sure hope mado is still joinable, I've been putting it off for years
I'll be mad as fuck if there's no way in anymore
>Why aren't they going to open registrations anymore?
Exclusivity. All Private trackers aim for that after becoming relevant.
The site's frontpage isn't publically available anymore, made a copypasta at https://ghostbin.com/paste/dwqra
okay I just finished the movie.
it's okay but didn't wow me. Guess I'm too old, ugly, and neet to self insert (in other words, hard to relate to the characters).
Did NOT like the
time travel bullshit. The body swap mechanism is also not well defined. Why 3 years? I get the whole threaded time-space metaphor but would have preferred if it was just distance.
the typical shinkai two people walk past each other without noticing dragged on for too long. Oh, and I didn't like the music very much. I like how the songs were incorporated into the presentation but the singer's voice was grating to me.
5/10 good for normies I guess.
It's all about >>152372883 i.e. something people after a certain age cannot relate to anymore. Fully understandable that it's mediocre at best for you.
>they have a strict no singles policy for cartoon movies
blurays will come in 3 months and will probably be pushed back due to the US release. Just invite some weeb friends.
Probably around 2-3.
But what is far more interesting is if Taki sluted around in Mitsuha's body, and her peers being to scared to mention it to her.
Stop spamming your shit faggot
A lot of people are overlooking the natural disaster influence for Japanese viewers. The idea that they could avoid all the death and change fate is very appealing to them.
>no singles policy
this literally does not exist
Don't be too sad about the music. It might not be in japanese in the US release but the Radwimps vocalist lived in America and can sing in perfectly ok english. Their earlier works, even when they were produced in Japan, were actually sang in english even.
Watched a camrip a while back and it's nothing special. They obviously marketed it well and anime is a lot more popular outside of Japan these days, that's all this figure means

It depends on what you mean by "as good as the past." I think they still make decent enough flicks, but I don't think that anything they've put out recently is Oscar worthy in the same way the UP would be.
The body swapping phenomenon is a warning system against the meteor that comes every 1200 years. You would need to swap with someone in the future to prepare against it, hence the 3 year gap. That's why Taki said "All the dreams the Miyamizus had must be leading to this day".
And before anyone asks how come nobody knows about the purpose of the body swapping into the future, everything was documented by the temple, but all records were destroyed by Mayugoro's fire. Hence why Grandma said "Even though the meaning is gone, our customs must be preserved".
why 3 specifically. why not 1 year. or 1 month. Does the body swap only happen during the miko's youth? What if some disaster happens when the swap isn't occurring? Does the swap only occur if a disaster is approaching? Shouldn't there be a better method of detecting disasters other than body swapping, like future visions? Is the underworld spit (which causes a time paradox btw) an intended step of the disaster prevention procedure or just a backup plan in case the miko and the swapped guy fucks up? What determines who the swapped guy is? Can it be a girl? Can it be a fatass? What if the swapped guy is a criminal and kills everyone in the village? Why did the cellphone messages corrupt after the guy found out the village was destroyed (wtf????)?
One of the things I can forgive is
the brats not noticing the difference in year on their cellphones. The ancient architects of this miko body swap system should have added 0.5 years to the swap so that the difference in season (snow/summer) instantly alerts the swappers of the time difference.
fuckin dreams how do they work

It doesn't have to be 3. It's just a coincidence that in Mitsuha's case, it turned out to be 3 year difference. In the side novel, Yotsuha was swapped with a person from 1000 years ago. The body swap happen when the mikos are connect with musubi god via kuchikamisake. This musubi god has govern over time and fate so after the pact with people and god wes made, the god will carry on his duty. The swap occurred in every generation of miko, but with its dream-like quality, they will eventually forget it. And because of musubi thing is about time, relationship and fate, the way to express it's power is via swapping not the future visions. Nope, the underworld is the boundary of god so every souls inside are protected, it is not the back up plan. The thing that determine who the swapped guy is is the miko herself. Mitsuha specify her specs to god. And Taki is lucky to be that one, or you would say they're bounded by string of fate from the start. Cell phone entries happens in dream, right? And in another aspect, it acts as human memory storage, so it is still in the god power coverage.
