It was handled the same exact way in the anime, the only difference being the reaction. Goku was surprised that he had been killed, whereas in the manga it was more like a "well, shit" situation.

Goku being killed in the anime wasn't treated as something important either, UNTIL the flashback was shown and we saw what happened in detail because not only was Goku killed, but Chichi and Goten. That's when Goku really unleashed his anger.

Buu absorbs opponents to get stronger. However he was transformed into "fat" Buu after absorbing the powerful and pure-of-heart Grand Supreme Kai. This absorption resulted in Buu losing power because of his pure heart. Why did he lose power here but gain power when he absorbed other pure of heart characters like Goten and Gohan? An entirely new multiverse is created everytime a new timeline is created. Each with it's own Zeno. The idea is simple on paper but when you think about it for longer then 2 seconds you realize how horribly stupid and needless complex it can get.
