I think /a/ was mostly butthurt about the "betrayal", when they had blindly trusted in what the title seemed to promise.
It was basically a repeat of Free!, where /a/ had convinced themselves that it was going to be FMP.

I thought the first episode was really bad because of the ancient fucking writing style of the show, but I was laughing my ass off so I kept watching. When Part 2 happened I stopped liking it ironically and was actually hype for what was happening, but was still laughing my ass off at the asspulls and plotholes.

It's honestly a great franchise and helped to revive the genre but the MOTW format is off putting to a lot of people so I tend not to recommend it. Everything Sato has worked on as directeor is gold though. so If he liked Tutu, that's where you send him: Sato's wiki page and pick anything. Little girl cartoons that speak to the little girl inside of us all.

Princess Tutu is seriously one of the best. The characters, atmosphere and story are top tier in how well they work with each other.

I've no word of defense for this monstrosity, but this season had the best two girls out of the whole franchise, and one of the best girls duos in the entirety of the history of human fiction. Well, Lovely Angels are arguably better, and I can think up a few more duos too, but you get my point.

Tutu was too long for its own good, IMO. Could have used 8 episodes less or so.
