Even so, this series was keeping it pretty realistic, until now that is.

I dunno, Arata and autismoe were NEETs, sure, but far away from hikikomori.

But I guess my bigger issue here would be that it had managed to keep away from the usual tropes so far, combined with the fact that Ohga seemed to have got his happy ending already (and I might be wrong, but I can't remember anything foreshadowing this situation for him, so I'll also call it hamfisted).
