Slightly related thing in regards to Ursula's name.
Considering that Hannah, Barbara, and Avery's names are all really obvious references, Ursula's is probably a reference to Ursula K. Le Guin, the author of the Earthsea series that did the whole "academy for magic users" thing as early as the 60s.
That one Ghibli movie was sort of related to her books.

I thought I wanted an anime series of this but I was wrong. So far the entire series is disappointing and I know that might be an unpopular opinion but I put so much trust and hope into it that it just let me down in the worst possible way. Maybe I expected it to have the same quality as the movies but in the end I'm not even really sure. It's all just sort of depressing. Honestly thay could have at least put some amazing music to go along with it but they couldn't even accomplish that.

These have been a huge warning sign to me that this has huge potential to be really disappointing.

They seem to want to attract the new audience that might not have watched the OVAs, while still making nods to the original fans. Which is fine, but they are doing it in the worst possible way. Its clear they dont care about hiding Ursula's identity as Shiny Chariot. It also doesnt make any sense that Lotte, Sucy, and Akko are so close by now, only having known each other for barely a day. I also dont understand why they decided to have the characters know so much magic by their first day of class.
