I've missed this feeling. The feeling of watching a modern classic in the making. Unironically, I haven't felt this way since Kill la Kill days. Fucking Trigger is going to do it. The madmen are going to save anime. And this time it will be a real masterpiece. God speed, Trigger.

>>
>>152301507
Sturgeon's law says 90% of everything, including anime, is crap. If only 75% of anime is better than it then KLK is 15% away from being not shit
>>
>>152301459
It dropped the ball in the second half, but when it started airing it felt like it would be the real thing.
>>
It sucks to say this, but its really not that good. The direction choices for these past two episodes are just weird. They want to bring in the audience that might have not watched the OVA but also keep beating down that Ursula is Chariot and give the impression that Lotte and Sucy as if they've been together for a long time for the people that watched both OVAs, even though they've barely known each other for a whole day yet. I can easily see Akko becoming a Mary Sue and the Shiny Rod answering any problems whenever the plot needs it to. There is no reason any of them should have the magical knowledge they have at their first day of school and will lead to either very little or absolutely no character growth by the end of the show. I hope I am wrong but so far I have been pretty disappointed.

Your opinion is trash and it doesn't matter.
>>
>>152301879
I worded that pretty poorly because I'm pretty drunk right now. What I'm trying to say is that this episodes goal should have been to establish Lotte, Sucy, and Akko's friendship. There is very little reason why any of them should be friends, other than being forced to be roommates (even then they've only been roommates for barely a day) but instead it expects us to just accept that they are friends because they are in the OVA.

>>152302156
It's obvious Ursula is Chariot, but I don't see what gave you that impression about Lotte and Sucy. The 3 of them were interacting normally and got caught together in the situations by coincidence. Also this is not a college dorm where all freshmen act awkward, any boarding school has quick developments like that
>>
>>152302351
Sure, I guess. I dont know what boarding school life is like, but I would not want to be friends with someone who tried to kill me at least twice while they did absolutely nothing to redeem themselves.

I still stand on the fact that none of them should be able to do the kind of magic that they are doing on their first day of school and ruins a lot of growth that could have happened as the series went on.
>>
>>152302641
You're right about the near-murder, but I think they are just treating it as comic relief. Sucy will probably almost murder someone every episode.

Learning magic outside school is murky territory, they all come from witch families so some magical knowledge must be passed down from the parents. You can't even GET there without using magic to fly. Diana & Sucy don't even appear to care much about school. I think we'll see that Luna Nova is the "proper" think to do so everyone goes there, but the great families all learn in-house and studying by themselves.
>>
>>152302641
What magic are you talking about? Akko is a complete amateur without Shiny Rod. Lotte hasn't shown anything. Sucy is a very talented witch, only second to Diana.
>>
It's flopping though.
>>
>>152302982
flopping in nipland but that's fine since it was directed towards westerners anyways
>>
>>152302857
I hope you're right. I'm comparing this show to the only thing that is can be compared to, Harry Potter, and in that series the kids barely know shit by the time they enter Hogwarts. They do basic stuff from the start and we see the characters magic skills progress with each year. It seems Sucy and Diana already know everything so its pointless to even care.

Trigger seems to be struggling with longer anime in the recent past and decided to take on 2cour. Just look at the difference in quality between Luluco(enjoyable)>Ninja Slayers(mediocre meme anime)>Kiznaiver(trash). Boggles my mind why Trigger wouldn't just stick with shorts and let that be there thing since it works so well with their powerpoint style of anime.

Pretty sure LWA won't be able to dethrone Inferno Cop as the best Trigger anime just like the others before it. Just merge with Gainax again, please.

It's actually a numerology class
People on /a/ got triggered thinking it was a math class, saying the calculus were stupid, unaware that's how you supposed to make numerology charts ( ex :1+1+1 = 3 )

In this scene they are using a Kabbalistic numerology system. What means the results numbers are connected to the numbers of the tree of life,

But I doubt it's the only system they are learning.

It's appropriated since from what it seems there's a tree/forest theme going on

I think I can explain why Akko is in the same year as Diana, Sucy and Lotte.
The Japanese school year end in March, while the British school year ends in July.
However, the British have their Easter Break starting March.
So I think Akko transferred to Luna Nova during their Easter Break, so she is in the same year as Lotte, Sucy and Diana.
This would explain why all the other students know each other and why she was put in the same year with them.

Do you realize that kabbalah used to be a secret oral tradition, right?

We only know it's older than dust because almost every tale or history of jewish tradition makes some kind of mention about it. Abraham, Noah, Isaiah and Salomon all made use of it, just to name a few. In similar fashion, everything Pythagoras/Plato said only got written way more into the future by other people, passing down by oral traditions and fragmented texts.

Anime has in general like 3-6 basic face types for all situations, so yeah, I can. The point is that Ursula is after young, innocent flesh she can corrupt with her seductive devil-tongue.

She's not, she's hiding it to avoid standing out. Rewatch the scene where she stumbles with the books.

I'm pretty sure she's Japanese too (or else she wouldn't have picked a goofy name like "Shiny Chariot").
She's not a sperg. She's just really mindful of her seniors, who are kind of bitches towards her in-turn on account of her being young and pretty.

>Anime has in general like 3-6 basic face types for all situations
Post this template then. You can hardly find one for a specific show, let alone one that encompasses multiple fucking shows (as is the case with those cartoons I mentioned).
>You surely have a bit more examples in your pic, but that's a)an exception, and b)those designs are kinda toothless and so are their motions. I.e. the four old witches look like the same grumpy old lady in different bodies.
"It's an exception, but it's not an exception, because they all feel the same way to me."
The fact is that the image isn't an exception. It's a rule. There are multiple ways to convey the same emotion and character. Anime usually keeps this in mind.

Looks can be deceiving.
Behind that gentle face is a lecherous, sinful woman that has tasted and destroyed virginity hundreds of times, and she never even once regretted a single moment of it.
>>
Why does anime needs to be saved every season?
>>
>>152312943
Penguidrum is alright, but YKA? Putting that in a top 10 is just saying you're either an Ikuhara nuthugger or don't know a better show.
>>
>>152314466
They're both iterations of Shiny Chariot. She has to tutor Akko so she can eventually teach her about the right ways to user her Shiny powers.

>Post this template then. You can hardly find one for a specific show, let alone one that encompasses multiple fucking shows (as is the case with those cartoons I mentioned).
90% main heroes of a shounen either look the same, or move and convey emotions the same way, or both. Tsundere's being the same character recolored is already a meme. How many clones of clones of Ami from Sailor Moon did we have already(*cough Ayanami Rei*) cough. Stardust Crusaders' characters don't even try to have different shapes in their design. And so on and so forth.

>"It's an exception, but it's not an exception, because they all feel the same way to me."
Character movement is kinda important in animation. You can't prettend the characters are different if they move and express emotions the same way.And you definitely can make them seem different even if they look the same.

>The fact is that the image isn't an exception. It's a rule. There are multiple ways to convey the same emotion and character. Anime usually keeps this in mind.
No, it doesn't. It has a few templates for the looks and a bit move movement templates for personalities. Then it combines it in different ways from anime to anime, but after a dozen you see that it's all the same set of character traits.
>>
>>152314956
YKA is just as good as MPD. Neither hold a candle to Utena but that's a different matter.
>>
>>152315134
YKA felt like an utter mess with its themes and allusions compared to Penguindrum. It also broke the whole purpose of Ikuhara using yuri romance by putting it in the spotlight. It's not bad, but it just doesn't hold up to his other works.

>90% main heroes of a shounen either look the same, or move and convey emotions the same way, or both.
You can literally look at the three most generic and popular shounen around (One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach) and see three entirely different MC's. This is entirely false.
>Tsundere's being the same character recolored is already a meme.
They're also not nearly as common as the meme implies they are. This also has nothing to do with same face.

>No, it doesn't. It has a few templates for the looks and a bit move movement templates for personalities.
I can keep posting counterexamples until the cows come home, but nothing's going to actually change your mind, and at this point I need to start posting webm's anyway (which would still demonstrate that you're wrong).
>>
>>152315210
YKA's themes and elements are the same as every other Ikuhara show. He always tells the same story even if the focus is slightly different, changing coffins with cages or boxes and swords of hatred with child broilers or invisible storms doesn't change the substance underneath.
And making every character female was a genius move to talk about love as a whole with no restrictions, with the outlines between friendship, romance, platonic love and lust as blurred as they can be.
>>
>>152315356
>You can literally look at the three most generic and popular shounen around (One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach) and see three entirely different MC's. This is entirely false
Yeah, sure. It's all a variation of an oval face + a pointed chin in different proportions. Also, speaking about same faces: every beautiful girl in One Piece is the same girl with a different set of a eyes, clothes and a new hairstyle.

>They're also not nearly as common as the meme implies they are. This also has nothing to do with same face.
It's the same face it has everything to do with the same face.

>I can keep posting counterexamples until the cows come home, but nothing's going to actually change your mind, and at this point I need to start posting webm's anyway (which would still demonstrate that you're wrong).
I can post counterexamples as well, but it wouldn't change the fact that 90% of anime is same faces with different clothes and hairstyles.

So, I don't understand after all this how are you able to blame Gravity Falls for being sameface. Look, GF main cast is 5 people, three different faceshapes (twins have it the same + Soos who has a fat variations), four bodyshapes (again, twins have are the same here) and they smile in 5 different ways. What's sameface about that?
>>
>>152314747
>>152315070
You're forgetting she dropped the books in the first place, and that wasn't an act. She nay not be Akko-level of retard, but she's not exactly in the clear either.
>>
>>152315729
They all have the same eyes, and eyes is one of the most important parts of character design. That's why One Piece girls having different eyes means that they have drastically different character designs too. Every single western cartoon has the same eyes. Anime has great variation, even within the same series.
>>
>>152315977
Well yeah, that and the dropping her wand in that teacher meeting. She's somewhat of a ditz, but when it counts her chariotness comes out.
>>
>>152315729
>Yeah, sure. It's all a variation of an oval face + a pointed chin in different proportions.
That's what you call "drawing a human head," you dip. Also, no. Ichigo's chin is flat-bottomed, and Naruto's is rounded. Luffy is the only one with a pointed chin. Everything else about their faces is different as well. Different proportions, eye shapes, noses, hairlines, ears.
>It's the same face it has everything to do with the same face.
Like Beako from Re: Zero. God knows that every other tsundere has that face.
>So, I don't understand after all this how are you able to blame Gravity Falls for being sameface. In addition to those faces being seen in other CN animations, they all kinda look like something a 10 year-old could draw.
>>
>>152315996
>They all have the same eyes, and eyes is one of the most important parts of character design
Please, don't bullshit me. The most important part of character design is silhouette. Then comes the form of the body and face. Eyes are important in conveying an emotion, but their form is mostly irrelevant and doesn't matter any more than any other form in character design outside of what general form they convey.

You may blame all that western characters for conveying the same excited emotion or bean shaped face no more than you can blame all the shounen characters for conveying the same determnined emotion or having an egg shaped face without being a hypocrite.

It isn't. It's a variation of the same egg-shaped face. And please don't call that "drawing a human head". Human heads have a bit more shapes than just the egg one.

>Everything else about their faces is different as well. Different proportions, eye shapes, noses, hairlines, ears.
Yeah, I know they have different accesories. So do their western counterparts.

All of Hebrew mythology/history in the Pentateuch was compiled during and after the Babylonian Exile in the 6th century BC. It drew from oral tradition, a very limited corpus of prior written sources from most likely very different traditions, and good old bullshitting to fill up the gaps. Exodus? Never happened, but it was a good way to mirror the actual exile in Babylon in a "all of this has happened before and will happen again" way.
