I love my wife Asuna
Diebuster is objectively better than Gunbuster.
I think Neon Genesis Evangelion has something to do with Christianity although Anno stated that it's just so it looks cool but actually Anno just trying to spread Christianity through Mecha Anime
Everything Getter Robo to come out after the 80s is shit, except Shin Getter Robo. TTGL is better than Armageddon.
K-On anime is mediocre K-On manga is unreadable trash
Gunbuster pure shit.
Everyone secretly loves Gundam IBO but talks shit about it because they want to fit in
>i want a sport anime that isn't just yaoi bait, and where everyone plays realistically and aren;t super powered
Some autistic shitposter has posted a thread about an anime just like that every day at 8 AM for quite awhile
I did that all the time when I played rugby but then again I was a beast
when I was in a rook I'd just curl up into the fetal position and stay there. I would win the game doing that
I have hated very nearly everything Kyoani has ever produced and I don't understand the appeal for any of their past like 5 series.
I literally dont get this retarded torrent > streaming meme. I have a laptop with limited space taken up by my programming files and games installed leaving me barely less than 20gb of free space. Why would I bother tormenting a show Im probably not going to like when I can just find a decent stream with subs online within a google search and be done with it?
I like Naruto, Attack on Titan, Sword Art Online, Re:Zero. I think they are fun and decent anime. I think people hate them because they see the level of popularity the shows got and think the shows don't deserve it. So people hate them to counter balance that.
the anime was pretty bad imo and has an awful ending, never read the manga. but i don't think most of /a/ thinks that the anime is bad.
Yes and it applies to Yuri on ice. Proof is crunchyroll awards. It just cant be as good as it was popular, it even won shit it absolutely had no right to like best animation. I can admit "overrated" is overused but it has its purpose.
i didn't even mentioned resolution. most of the streams use the torrent files but to stream it they lower the quality of it. (not talking about official streams)
why watch something looking worse for no reason?
the image quality is worse, there's no reason not to download it. stop trying to defend a stupid position. you want to stream go ahead, people have reasons to tell you what you doing is stupid.
The most emotional and impactful part of Eva were Kaji and Misato.
Asuka is interesting as a person. If she didn't have a plugsuit and had normal black hair she would still be interesting.
Kozo is a better doctor and a better manager than Gendo.
>why watch something looking worse for no reason
I dont have space fucktard and Im not gonna buy another hard drive just to watch chink girls unless I actually need it.
Nagisa is best girl.
But the stream quality is completely sufficient for me , I don't want to wait for the download to finish, just watch it and go to the next episode. Fuck, I'm not even watching in fullscreen because I want to keep a side eye on other things.
>I literally dont get this retarded torrent > streaming meme.
And I just explained you this. It's not a meme. It has reasons for it. You want to stream go ahead. If people call you out, accept it and move on.
I think anime and manga is just a fun hobby and that a lot of people online, not just on /a/ but also on tumblr, twitter and other websites, take it way too seriously. It's fine liking or not liking something but the moment you make a big deal out of your preference or in some anime or manga because said anime/manga is overrated or underrated, you're most likely going to come across as an annoying piece of shit. I don't care that much when that's the case on /a/ because that's part of the fun, but on twitter I've seen friendships end over stupid shit like "is yuri on on ice queerbaiting and offensive".
I like short series over long ones, unless the long ones are a bunch of short stories.
I don't mind it when something becomes popular with normies because as annoying they can be, it makes the series more accessible and more merchandises, books and BD/DVD are available in stores, and that's what matters the most.
Same thing for me.
Watch real sport or older anime like Captain Tsubasa. Eyeshield 21 will always be one of my favorites, I can't recommend it enough.
i hate it when characters speak english in anime. even if its just a poorly pronounced bye bye or something like that i dislike it. stop being such angloboos you gook cunts, speak your own language
we grew here you flew here, fuck off we're full
but seriously it really annoys me
Monster's ending wasn't bad in the slightest to me nor did I find it to be underwhelming. There, I said it.
What makes it a /v/eddit thread?
It's a pretty shit thread though
Dude, realistic SoL high school team sports anime, so long as there are some decent character, would be my shit.
I really like the characters in Haikyuu, but I think it is a bit too much in the vein of Kuroko no Basket. I want to see an anime where winning the matches isn't life or death. While the team do play matches and such, they spend more time just bonding and improving. A lot of the things they do would be episodic and not based around arcs. The team spends episodes doing stuff like going to spectate a professional match or maybe at the end of the year there is an episode where everyone gets sad (even cries?) that 3rd years are leaving. Even though the anime would mostly be about fun episodic adventures, everything is still somehow related to the sport. Haikyuu has a bit of this, but it is not enough and that is why I want more. The last season was literally 1 match that lasted 10 episodes, and before that the last half of season 2 was a tournament. Fuck that. I want more training camp, it's been forever since I have seen the characters outside an actual match. Even though it's sounding like I just want a SoL series like K-on, I really do want something more focused than K-on. For fuck sake, multiple entire episode have nothing to do with actual musically activity. But is it too much to ask for something in between. I want to see matches and tournaments, I just don't want them span entire seasons and prevent any thing else from being showed.
Also I would like to get to know eveyone on the team, and see them all do something even if not in a match. Give Ennoshita and his friends some screen time or otherwise just don't have them in the first place. Kuroko is even worse at this, I knew maybe 4 people on the Seirin Team. I hate all the filler characters in sports anime. It really prevents a feeling of intimacy, like the feel the band in K-on gives off.
Pain was the best villain in Naruto and the series should have ended with his defeat. Everything after that arc was abysmal and the Uchiha plot was stupid as shit. Characters like Obito and Madara should never have seen the light of day.
Just watched the series through for the first time
I think its really endearing, but a lot of the time it feels video-gamey and stupid
But there's a lot to like there. The way it presents its world without feeling the need to be masturbatory and go into every single detail of it
The most famous Ghibli movies aren't very good. Mononoke has paper-thin, one-dimensional characters and loses its plot and message mid-way though, Spirited Away has nothing to say and is pretty pointless overall, and Totoro seems to be made for literal toddlers.
Freezing is a pretty good, albeit shallow, show about hot girls hacking up each other to pieces.
Alibaba is the only good character in Magi.
I'm on you with this. The funny thing is, it's not really fanservice per se: it's the fact that most of the time they don't try to do it as hot as it should, if this makes any sense.
Regardless of what you think of Pain, the very least Naruto earned that win for the most part. At least compared to the stuff that transpired in that last clusterfuck of a fight.
Because it feels like a sleazy pretense of modesty, or the opposite where they are trying to give the impression that the creators can be naughty and risky but are actually repressed and neurotic and can't discuss sexuality in a relaxed manner?
I didn't find both Nichijou shows funny and dropped cromartie 5 eps in
Loli is not for sexual and lolicons are disgusting pseudo-pedophiles who should be gassed.
Orange was the worst character of the entirety of code geass. Not even becoming one of us (lolicons) fixed the pile of shit he turned out to be.
The following are not unpopular opinions, but certain fanbases think they're unpopular:
>Madoka is shit.
Most of /a/ knows that Madoka is shit. The only ones who argue against this are avatarfagging Madoka tripfaggots who post in 24/7 generals while crossposting to MAL and tumblr.
>Hyouka is boring.
Again, no one on /a/ would argue against the fact that Hyouka put them to sleep except for the small (but loud) group of obsessive fans who think they gain points by pretending that Hyouka was good. It's almost a religion to them. They think that if they shitpost about it enough, they'll be reborn as a Japanese high school self-insert straight man surrounded by cute girls.
Again, these are not unpopular opinions. These are popular opinions that a tiny minority of /a/ pretends are unpopular.
I havent read it in years and it was one of my favorites. I stopped reading at the brother rape part cause releases at that time were too slow. How has it turned out since then?
You have awful taste and shouldn't read One Piece. Skypiea is the series. It is the most quintessential arc of all. It encapsulates what the series is all about.
One Piece isn't about fightan or wars or pirate drama. It's about romance. ROMANCE
Code Geass R2 is overall shit especially the fan service overload, ending was great though.
code geass and death note are shit, they both felt like edgy teen bait.
Great/ a super appealing art style is one of the main reasons I watch anything. I'm a super big fan of tsunako so I end up liking moe garbage that looks nice.
Not an unpopular opinion but Kyoani is the best studio
>Fairy Tail is a great shonen manga
>Spirited Away is the most overrated Ghibli movie
>Zoro Roronoa is a stupid moralfag
>any gaijin dub that uses different people for adult Goku and child Goku is automatically better than the japanese dub
>Lucky Star is boring
>Little Witch Academia is good animation wasted with shit story and shit characters
Sword Art Online is a really enjoyable anime. At one point I would have considered it a masterpiece.
Most English dubs of sacred cow status aren't anywhere near as good as the nostalgiafags make them out to be. Also all of the ebin SO FANNY xD parody dubs like Ghost Stories are unfunny garbage.
>I think "'overrated" is a word retards with no brains use.
"Overrated" is just a word that's been overused. It's like "autism" or "cuck". People used it so often that eventually no one actually knew what it meant anymore. The word can still be used correctly, but most people who use it don't really know what it means. Which is fucking sad, because it's not hard to understand at all.
LWA is a waste of time to watch. Wasted time, wasted talent.
Naruto was a good manga for the first few volumes
Love Live is a genuinely entertaining show and Nico is by far the best character in it
Yuri shipping is a product of deteriorating minds
SNW's art style was fine and suited the show perfectly
Angels Egg is pretentious trash for pretentious trash
Rebuild is better than the TV series
Much of "classic" anime is horrible. The industry has improved since then. What was good then is mediocre today.
If you extend classic to include the 90s it doesn't get that much better.
Madoka was pretty good, rebellion was not
Toradora was shit
The average mecha is a generic soap opera, and fans come off as old ladies praising days of our lives for being a deep and enthralling story
Berserk isn't that good
Space dandy tried too hard
and hidamari sketch fucking sucked
While I strongly disagree, this is hardly unpopular opinion
I just want more adults in anime. I'm sick of little girls and the pedophiles who are obsessed with them. I'm sick of stupid high school love stories. I just want someone who's above the age of 25 and actually acts like it.
Loli body types, or body types that just look loli with the right bra and clothing, are actually pretty standard in japan, so long as "loli" just means anything that isn't an 5'10" hourglass white girl with C cups like it always does.
That's like wanting more lantern jawed, blonde men with broad shoulders as MCs.
Yeah, Asians mostly have small boobs.
So it's hilarious how they keep giving their animu characters big ones.
If you want real life big boobs, go to Oktoberfest. Cleavage everywhere.
I went to a 2ch thread talking about that one time and they wondered if girls with small boobs would not even bother wearing the cleavage-revealing dress since it would only induce inferiority.
>shows you don't watch.
That's what gets me about the "fujoshit" whiners. Not only are they whining about a nonexistent problem, they haven't even seen the shows they're whining about. People who judge a show without having ever seen it bug the shit out of me. They're so completely dependent on other people's opinions that is disgusts me.
Most people are just too retarded to use the term properly. The same way most people are too retarded to understand that criticizing something doesnt mean that you dislike it or think of it as bad.
>criticizing something doesnt mean that you dislike it or think of it as bad.
One of the things that I hate the most about this board (and this site, and the internet in general) is how people increasingly see things in black and white. If I dislike a thing about a show, then I must hate the whole show, and since I hate a thing you like I'm THE ENEMY. No one seems able to understand nuance. It's incredibly frustrating.
A Certain Magical Index is a good series, is that unpopular as an opinion?
That and it has gotten worse over the years. They don't even mind that they misuse the term as long as they get to complain about nothing. At east they are depriving themselves of good shows.
People in general at this point. You cant possibly dislike an aspect of something. If you do, you dislike the entire thing and no matter how hard I have to twist your words I will prove your opinion WRONG. Makes no goddamn sense. And it really isnt exclusive to film and music anymore, a lot of people actually approach conversations like this IRL. This probably started with someone saying "Hitler killed a lot of people BUT HE ALSO ..." and ever since then people started to exclusively see things in black or white. Something that is bad cant possibly have good aspects to it, or vice versa. Feels more and more like people lose their ability to critically approach discussions.
Give One Piece a try. I thought I'd hate it (mostly because of the art style), but it ended up being my favorite shounen. At the very least read up to Arlong Park. That's where it gets good in my opinion.
I really think the internet has something to do with the rise of this phenomenon. It didn't used to be like this. Polarization and overreaction seem to be the new norm. The American presidential election is the most obvious proof that something is very wrong. People just went fucking nuts. There's no reason anymore, there's no thought, it's just knee-jerk reactions and tribalism.
But I'm straying off-topic, so I'll just say that K-On is trash and Re:Zero is great.
>Again, these are not unpopular opinions. These are popular opinions that a tiny minority of /a/ pretends are unpopular.
No one can be this delusional.
>I really think the internet has something to do with the rise of this phenomenon.
Of course it does. The internet enables echo chambers. You used to be limited to the people around you and had to accept compromise to get through life. Nowadays you can just sit on tumblr or reddit and ban or downvote people who dont share your opinion and push them out of the community. Hell, shit even works on Twitter and Facebook. Why bother with people who dont share your views if you can just mute them?
I love Umaru with or without shitposting.
Season 2 when?
Here's really unpopular shit tastes
This Anon gets something.
Sure, Gunbuster tried a lot of new things standard animation of that time have yet to experiment, but top of the class is indeed Top wo Nerae 2
life is stupid and has no purpose whatsoever
>The first season of Initial D should be considered a classic
>Oshii's Patlabor movies are superior to his Ghost in the Shell ones
>Miyazaki is deserving of the mainstream praise and success he's received
>KLK is significantly better than Gurren Lagann
FLCL is overrated shit, and is only worth rewatching if you're a sakugafag.
I hate K-ON! I watched it, and read the manga, and both were completely dull and not entertaining. None of the girls are cute or attractive at all to me, and the fact that they never played music was annoying. Whenever someone posts something related to that show, I immediately lose all respect for any opinions they might have on other things.
Sorry. I'll shut up. It's just that my frustrations about anime blended with my frustrations with life in general.
If you really think your "Waifu" is your actual wife, then you should get out more.
Sword art online 1st season was good. Everything else afterwards sucked.
Most of /a/ loves moe shit which is why this board is getting worse and worse. Anons say they hate it; but it's literally a thread made every other day.
Japan has shit taste. I'm sick of the childhood freind always winning. Let the Cake win, or a girl that's delicious brown.
Thick, Fit, delicious brown gyaru is a combination of all my fetishes.
>Ghost in the Shell is good, but it's not the masterpiece everyone thinks it is
>FMA: Brotherhood sucked
>Any grown man who watches Sailor Moon or still likes anything Pokemon related usually turns out to be a manchild
>Ecchi is one of my favorite genres
>Some fujoshis are hot and I want to fuck them
Here's some help arguing against that: Essentialism is the problem you're describing. A property or attribute necessarily can't define identity. F/ex anon isn't retarded; anon is or has acted retardedly. In short, this misapplication of identity is the scourge of our time and I wish us all luck and skill in dispelling this fallacy. Existence precedes essence - reality before ideology.
Almost all Josei anime are shit, and i especially dislike the
overratedones like Rakugo, Chihayafuru or Honey and clover.
I think that Japanese manga and LNs are shitty sources for anime, they all fall use the same tropes and characters. Anime should have more chinese influence since there's tons of untapped and unique chinese web novels that would make amazing anime.
>Any grown ma who watches Sailor Moon or still likes anything Pokemon related usually turns out to be a manchild
Ok. Pretty good.
>Ecchi is one of my favorite genres.
>But there are many other sources that can be used. Not just chink novels.
Agreed. I feel like anime as a whole would be significantly better if the people making it had an understanding of film outside of anime.
What matters is that you're fuckin wrong
In my opinion, you can't binge Evangelion. It's too much, man. I'd say 2-3 episodes at a time works.
Also even though I'm a fan of the show, I will admit that there isn't much connecting each episode to the last one, except at the last two (not a fan of the oridge ending. EoE brought it all together)
I watched one a day to finish it. It felt like a chore. There were so few parts and episodes that I enjoyed. It's good but not to the point of freaking out over but I won't deny every one should watch it at least once.
There really isn't a good way for Berserk to end without it being a total ass-pull. Because of the in-universe rules, Guts can't do shit against the Godhand.
don't forget that guts was an absolute edgelord in the first few chapters. Conviction Arc is bad, but Black Swordsman has some cringy shit
It's kinda like Cowboy Bebop or Ghost in the Shell, it's a serious black mark on your cred as an anime fan to have not seen it. Even if you didn't like it, at least you checked it off the list
Because shit like sol or moe shows I don't need to give much attention to and I can read subtitles faster than the characters talk so I'm just making efficient use of my time.
I mostly watch anime as a social activity with friends. If I'm watching anime at home alone, there's a 90% chance of it being something I've already seen and know what happens, so I'm not missing anything by multitasking.
/a/ has a shitty culture and even shittier taste
I don't know if it's the mods or what but /a/ is practically /b/ tier with every single thread being the same shit.
There is 0 and I mean absolutely NO innovation here. When I sit back and think about what /a/ could of been it hurts, ya know?
Well fuck me... this thread was supposed to be "unpopular opinions", I could of swore it said "state the obvious".
Araki's art has also become a complete parody of itself. I will take the shitty ripoff Hara art of part 1 over the shittier fish-mouthed, dead-eyed, same-faced, nig-lipped, ripped off from fashion shoots art.
I tried like five times to watch Mononoke and could never make it through the entire thing, not because it's thin or anything it's just really fucking dull. I hate that movie so much that I have never, and will never, watch anything Ghibli makes, has made or will ever make.
Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches is perfectly fine after the point where it "should" have ended and some of the most enjoyable stuff (i.e. the Odagiri teasing and Tamaki being a bro) happened after that point. Or it was until the most recent "biding our time until graduation OH NO ANOTHER MEMORY WIPE" twist. Not so much that it's kind of dull but because Shiraishi is a garbage character and went from a nice love interest to shit due to having literally no character beyond smiling at Yamada.
they were both pretty based
jap ost had more of a dramatic 60s martial arts movie feel
faulconer was just nutso synthpop but the guy had a great feel for the atmosphere of the scenes and how to make a theme hit hard(goku ssj theme, pikkons theme, ginyu theme etc)
wow, you're the worst...
love live really is a shitty show. you can only really like it if you like one or two of the characters enough to put up with the rest.
just read the manga adaptations and listen to the music.
not him but i read the VN and honestly I found shit dragged on for far too long and there were some very dumb coincidences like how there just happened to be a fucking fiber optic line going right to cern. same thing with robitcs;notes only worse because they literally gave up and had monopoles FALL FROM THE FUCKING SKY
I dont think the gag where someone beats up the MC for accidentally peeking or slipping on a girl is funny, in fact it pisses me off since not only is it cheap comedy banking on shitty shock and slapstick, but because when the character is not deserving of the punishment he receives it makes the other character come off as a legit terrible person who can get away with anything and will never face any consequences for their actions
I will always watch a dub so long as the voice acting is tolerable and fits
most subs are garbage for flat out refusing to translate shit like "convenience store" or "rice ball". if your subs need a million different TL notes and its not to explain something about the culture like folklore and shit then its shit.
I will never watch GuP because the subs keep making every other word german
I refuse to watch Kantai Collection based on the premise alone
most harem anime is a waste of time
the best gundam series was Turn A
>action in manga is retarded but simple things like slice of life is ok
>visual novels are boring
>anime with more than two seasons and more than 26 episodes in any season is too long and not worth watching
>streaming is better than torrenting because why would I waste space to watch something I would delete right away
>I refuse to watch anything Mecha related because I don't like them
>any anime before 2000 is too hard to get into
>I have no clue what gintama is but the fact that there's like 20 fucking versions of it in all top 50 anime lists makes me back away from it
>Yuri on ice would have been better as a movie
>re zero isn't that bad, its middle is absolutely terrible but the start and end are fairly decent
>Yuri on ice would have been better as a movie
If anything it needed two cours, it was rushed as is and would've benefited hugely from more time to develop the cast and include more SoL. It does need a movie at some point though, for the sake of some great animation.
Not sure if it was said cause Im on mobile. But Berserk 2016 wasn't that badly animated. It's bad but not as bad as people scream it to be.
Luckily the Blu-ray will make it a little less shit.
Agreed, If anything they followed the manga panels so damn closely that it didn't translate so well into anime. Once you look at it from this perspective it makes a lot more sense.
Naruto is a legitimately good anime, even if it fell off hard with the war arc. Obviously skipping filler.
Naruto isn't any worse than Dragon Ball Z, and people just hate it because they're not watching / reading it with rose-coloured nostalgia goggles.
And on a related note, Next Generation is actually really good so far.
>And on a related note, Next Generation is actually really good so far.
different anon here. i just dont like the art at all. like its by kishimoto's assistant or something? its clear hes a pleb. that being said i hope for all our sakes it gets better. same with the manga. right now it only covered the boruto movie so im curious to where it will go in the future
i also do not like sarada's design by the new mangaka.
I love to hate the naruto anime. As of late the "filler" has actually been very good quality. The anime did wonders it would seem for the creative team I feel like. I make no quams about the plot being bad and mishandled and the fact that they shoe horned a creation myth in order to get some alien ninja goddess as the final bad guy was handled so bad it was to the point of being hilarious especially since it pushed Madara off to the side even the entire war was his doing.
But at the end of the day the War arc itself was solid even the fight with Kaguya had some good moments. I also enjoy the cast of characters and the humor in the series in general. Its fun to open a bottle of whiskey and see whats going on this week in naruto.
I can agree absolutely with this
I liked spirited away and hotaru no haka when I was newer to anime, but I can't finish mononoke no matter how hard I try. Been at it for like 6 months now, shits just so incredibly boring. It really puts me off of watching other Ghibli stuff.
The new characters look pretty dumb, especially Boruto, and a lot of the pairings don't make any sense and fell random. I think the worst offender is Sai/Ino, doesn't make sense to me and it sucks that they just stuck Ino with discount Sasuke.
There are pairings that make sense, though...Naruto and Hinata, Sasuke and Sakura, Shikamaru and Temari, and so on. The majority make sense, actually.
For Sai and Ino...I like it. I think they're cute together, and they're both trash characters, so it works.
>plan to watch show
>download the show
>the download takes bandwidth and hard drive space
>hate the show
>delete the show
A whole lot of time wasted for nothing, and hard disc space temporarily filled.
It had no idea how to develop the main characters without inserting laughably absurd drama and "reasons". What makes you think that having two cours would have helped anything?
Naruto and Hinata, Sasuke and Sakura, Shikamaru and Temari are all a given, but most of the other pairings just feel like Kishi didn't know what to do with them so he just picked names from a hat.
Unpopular opinions eh?
VN adaptations don't work and LN adaptation suck.
Forced melodrama romance shows (anohana, Ef: a tale of memories) are the worst.
Baccano does not need a sequel.
Old berserk tv show was amazing.
Code geass is an unoriginal trainwreck.
DTB season 2 was not that bad.
Durarara was long and boring.
Elfen lied, narutaru, higurashi, ima soko no iru boku were all edgy trash.
Rebuild of Evangelion sucks, and it's a waste of Annos talents.
Fate/zero is the only good work by nasu and butch.
Tsukihime anime was just as bad as the route it was based on.
Kara no kyoukai was pretentious trash.
Fate/stay night does not work as an anime, no matter how pretty it looks.
Madoka and psycho pass were both badly written.
New anime is not even trying to be good.
Sports anime sucks.
Miyazaki is overrated and quite boring.
Yugioh season 0 was great.
Re zero was terrible.
Phantom: requiem was unwatchable.
Gate had the worst directing ever.
The first half of Sao also sucked.
Everyone had sex with everyone in Utena.
Dubs > subs, always.
K-on (and sol in general) is a waste of time.
The finale of katanagatari was both terrible and clever.
Parasyte anime was great.
UC > any other gundam series.
Manly anime is pretty great.
Steins gate is not that good.
I don't agree with the messages of NHK and the main girl is a negative character.
Oreimo was bad and really hard to watch.
Samurai champloo was not that great.
Haruhi is not that good, without nostalgia goggles.
NGE episodes 24&26 > end of Eva
Rei Ayanami is the best girl.
Jojo parts 1&2 are better than 3&4.
Streaming > downloading.
Traps are ok
Retro anime is always better.
nah, godhand will fucking win and that will be that.
Evangelion is the greatest anime ever to grace this godawful planet
I like the Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle manga.
FMAB is shallow, hammy, and has the most poorly-timed "comedy" I've ever seen.
HxH 2011 is better than 1999, which melodramatizes events and characters that don't need it (though they're both good overall). Not an unpopular opinion generally, but unpopular on /a/.
High school SOL has been run into the ground and was never that interesting a genre to begin with.
Kyoani's style of drawing girls looks terrible.
Diebuster is obsessively tied to its own themes while Gunbuster is considerably less focused on that stuff.
If you were to say what Gunbuster was about you would probably have to say: being away from home and coming back home after a long time. That's why the first episode is a comical portrayal of average school girl life, but they pilot robots. That's why in the second episode we see the girls having a sleep-over, except its in a spaceship hangar. That's why we have the time dilation and age discrepancies. Things we know and are familiar with have passed through time and they're different now, as an audience and for the characters.
But not everything perfectly syncs with this theme as it does in Diebuster. The "hard work and guts" stuff in Gunbuster services a sports parody but it doesn't really go anywhere with it, for example. A lot of people rag on Diebuster because it has a very odd-looking kamikaze earth finale, but it's only there because the creators are (maybe ridiculously) exacerbating the themes. Gunbuster's doesn't really do that in its final episode conflict, except maybe the tenuous idea that the degeneracy generator is meant to symbolise gradual decay as in aging.
Diebuster is about accepting what you are and your natural conditioning. Unlike Gunbuster it does this through a sports motif (the tennis racket Tycho's robot uses, the Tokyo Dome in the final episode, the point-scoring obsession of the Topless), tying restless sportsman-like ambition to self-destructive impulses, with the references to kamikaze attacks in the later episodes.
The constant reference to aging, Diebuster actually mocking itself for being a childish robot vs monster anime, also services this. Although the solidity of this is arguable, they even try and tie the space monsters into this core theme. I think it's implied that they're Topless that have refused to bow out and instead have becoming immense space-worm creatures? Right? Maybe I'm wrong
Naruto is a good/entertaining anime, skip the fillers tho. I love the art style very much also. The best looking anime females i have seen are from naruto.
I always streams the shows that are airing except the ones not licensed to my region. I also do it to older shows that I don't bother downloading like Chihayafuru and Hunter x Hunter. That said, I still torrent a lot, especially old stuff like Yamato and Rayearth.
