Same. Art was great, music was fantastic, and I honestly didn't see the twist coming. Usually it's pretty obvious if you're used to Chekhov's Gun but they managed to avoid spoiling it. I actually felt really bad for Taki and it wasn't clear that he would be able to see her again. I liked also how initially he just wanted to save her but after spending more time there he felt so fucking bad that her sister would be lost too along with her friends and all the kids.

It's kinda like how we can distance ourselves from tragedies or only fear for our loved ones. But when you are there and you see people in person then your humanity really comes out. Actually I just realized this might have been a subtle message in the story. The newscasts that were repeatedly shown after the meteorite split kept saying how wonderful it was, how this was a rare event and everyone should go see it now. Meanwhile a town and hundreds of people were about to be obliterated.

Also it was really unclear whether they were going to go full mystical with the powers of the god. I found myself really hoping for it to turn out well because it was unclear whether it would. And since the movie dropped the bombshell earlier I was worried they were going to go full bad ending and end it sad.

Ending was also great. Leave it up to the imagination.

The only thing I have to critique the movie on was their meeting in the crater where Taki just sits there barely saying anything (was he supposed to seem like he was dreaming?) and she goes on a rant about him touching her breasts. They finally get to see each other, disaster is still coming, and they are acting like retards. I thought they could have done that better. Embraced the meeting and then transitioned into the fight to save the town now having experienced what they could lose.

Also it would have been nice to see Taki's father more. The interaction with family was a little one sided.
