Mendou had charisma. Kuno is just a sad delusional white knight.

Ranma's characters were so flanderized that they lost charm. Not to mention Takahashi wanting to shove Akane down our throats out of the paranoid fear that she'd be forced to change love interests again.

Ranma is good when it's a legit comedy shounen, but the longer it goes on Takahashi just falls back into her comfort zone and makes it a shit version of Urusei. Kuno is a perfect example. He's treated as a legitimate threat until Ranma beats him, and after that he's a complete joke and never improves.
