Cause rakugo shinjuu is an active waste of time, that couldn't be anymore boring in it's story telling or themes if it tried.

Some of the corniest and predictable weak melodrama I have ever seen, terribly boring narration by an old man, weak attempts at "humor".

The most interesting idea explored in the entire show was how ww2 effected the characters in their young adult youth, yet they dropped the ball by not focusing on any of that and instead having the old man tell us what happened in the most anti-climatic way possible instead of showing us.

That whole ww2 era was ripe for inherently interesting drama, but they throw that to the side for a done to death boring love triangle.

The animation is below average, the ost is forgettable(op is nice though), the colors are drab, the characters are uninteresting archtypes.

It's just a bad show all together, and season 2 is looking to be even worse, with this legit cuck plot line, it's horrible. I honestly feel bad for the people that trick themselves into thinking anything about the show is even remotely decent cause it's "mature". It's overrated oscar bait trash.

Konosuba, on the other hand is fun.

If you're talking about the Rakugo performances, then those weren't attempts at humor, they were a very accurate representation of Rakugo, if you don't find that kind of humor entertaining that's a different thing, but it wasn't supposed to be funny per se. More often than not the performances were meant to show the different personalities the characters had when performing or to show their mental state during different parts of the story.

Rakugo might have worked as a live action drama, but as an anime it just screams boring.
I was actually kind of disgusted at just how bad the melodrama was, that's really all the show had going for it, but they blew it I called everything instantly because the writer has no sense for subtly. I'm was honestly surprised that not a single exciting or engaging plot point ever happened.

The closet they got was that mess of "lovers death" that didn't share the tone of anything prior, it was laughable bad. Granted it was a made up story by bon, but the really climax was just as melodramatic.

Because Rakugo S2's first episode dispelled the illusion everyone had been building up for the past year that the show was some fucking masterpiece and made everyone remember that it wasn't any better than decent.

I thought Yotaro's bit about the thief, the tenant, and the landlord was pretty funny. Reminded me of those corny jokes that preachers like to tell.

Mostly ended up dropping it just because it wasn't my kind of thing, not because it looked bad. I do have to wonder why they bothered with making it an anime though. That's the kind of thing you'd be better off using live performers for.

The joy of Konosuba is watching some delightfully perverse woman expound upon her masochistic fantasies through the three female heroines, who are different shades of submissive personalities in BDSM play. Aqua is the needy brat who gets punished, Megumin likes to immerse herself in the cathartic feeling of relieving tension, and Lalatina is an enthusiastic masochist who just wants to be used.
And this is when everything else about the novel and show have an attention to detail, narrative structure, and comedic timing that is far better than you'd think given its content and coming from DEEN respectively.
I know this is bait, I just wanted to gush about how happy this series makes me.
