Can we just get a good blu ray release already? We're finally getting Innocence and both gigs of SAC so a blu ray with at least 5.1 Japanese and proper subs would be nice.

They've been having a showing once a month since December, I saw Mononoke in the theatre tonight and it was fucking great, I'll be seeing GiTS too hopefully subbed. Last month was Spirited Away

It's more like they know anime is a already produced cash cow in a dying system of media. Seriously, things like NETFLIX, Hulu, and Amazon are killing movie theaters and cable TV faster than you can drop a hat.

Want to know the reason Marvel/DC shows are on the rise? Because normie nerds are now at the "willing to spend the most age group". Anime is going to be the most normalized thing soon, everything is already paid for and throwing it on a screen for people to rewatch is pennies on the dollar.

You honestly think hollywood gives 2 shits about what your tastes are? The majority of people going to see it probably don't give a shit.

english motoko is fine. if you;re gonna pay money do see a film in theaters especially one with good, animation, you better see it dubbed or else you're just wasting your time. You can always watch it subbed when you get home. live for the experience.

with that being said, you should not bother seeing it at all in theaters since the movie is literally garbage. the only thing that would keep you awake to continue watching that boring piece of shit are the loud theater speakers
>>

>millennials think a movie older than them is boring
I'd rather watch Code Geass or something. It's like Death Note except with Gundams...and that chess match between Lelouche and Schneizel was the pinnacle of anime mindfuckery and tension. He moves his OWN KING INTO CHECK, HOLY SHIT!
>>
>>152063368

Nice excuse, faggot. I watch 70's anime on a weekly basis and 90's anime is my favorite. GitS' overly philosophical story is what kills it. I don't care what they're saying and they aren't giving me a real reason to care. Most of the movie is repetitive dialogue which a good movie would be able to draw my attention which this is not. It's a dull mess covered in decent art.

I don't know
A good surround system and TV are as good as if not better than sitting in a cramped and loud theatre for $10
>>
>>152064255
I went to the Spirited Away dub showing last month. It sold out a week before the showtime and when I got there it was completely packed. GitS is less popular since fewer people grew up with it like they did with Ghibli, but it might get a boost what with live action coming out soon.

Seeing as how there's 1 theater and 2 showing in my city, I'm guessing it'll be packed this time too.
>>
>>152064431
>a boost what with live action coming out soon
god I hope not, I want that to fail miserably so we don't get stuck with a flood of anime adaptations
>>
>>152064377
>A good surround system and TV
normal people dont have surround systems especially not theater quality where it's very intimate. Also no one has a TV the size of theater screens.
>sitting in a cramped and loud theatre
You do realize theaters have basically lounge chairs now. no such thing as cramped. Also I don't know what theater you go to, but people generally don;t talk through a movie.
>for $10
oh so you can afford a nice surround system and TV but not a cheap ticket to see a movie.

I don't understand your logic.
>>
does anyone have the screencap of the anon who was explaining/ranting about how GitS was the perfect movie?

I explicitly remember him saying something like "I think this movie is perfect and I'm the kind of guy who would even change some things about Citizen Kane" at the beginning of the explanation/rant.
>>
>>152064480
>no one has a TV the size of theater screens
and most people don't have a room long enough to need a screen that large, I sit 10' away from my TV

also by loud I mean the speakers, past few movies I've been to have been waaayyyy too loud, so much that explosions and other louder sounds just get completely crushed by the speakers not being able to handle it.

and I didn't buy a surround sound system to watch one movie, I bought it to improve my general home viewing experience.

I don't have high hopes for it either, but if it introduces more people to classic anime then that's a good side effect.

I don't blame you by not seeing it, but I'm going to see the live adaptation regardless. Forgive me, I don't have the willpower to vote with my wallet anymore. Live adaptations are so rare and the original is something of a favorite.

>>
>>152064975
Why wouldn't it have influence? The anime adaptation market is ripe for the picking, and will introduce a new era to take the place of young adult novel adaptations. There's been talk of Bebop and Akira movies for years an I wouldn't say that they're unlikely if GitS does well.
>>
>>152064975
In case you aren't aware, major hollywood studios recently bought a bunch of successful manga/anime IPs and are taking the first steps to adapt them.
GitS is going to be the test subject. If it succeeds there's no reason for them to stop doing the same shit.

They're looking for something to renew capeshit. The "chosen one" direction they've taken for GitS makes it pretty obvious. mangashit is going to be the next capeshit if that movie succeeds.

You certainly do have the willpower to avoid wasting two hours in a theater. Just pirate it when it leaks if you're so morbidly curious.

I mean, fuck, it's not like you need to watch it in a theater to know how much it sucks. If you go see it you'll STILL be voting with your wallet.

So in summary, reasons not to buy a ticket to GitS live:
>it'll suck (this is a given)
>its success means more live action adaptations
>adaptations are overwhelmingly likely to also suck
>even in general, remakes of all kinds are bad for creativity
>the next candidates for adaptations cannot possibly be worthwhile (Akira, Bebop)
>the adaptations and related media will unavoidably permeate the internet (ignoring is not an option)
>the adaptations' series will become well-known for the wrong reason
And if you still want to see it
