How are kyoanuses still a thing when the studio has regressed so much since Hyoka?
>>
Hibike! was such a huge disappointment. Felt nothing in the end.
>>
Aside from 2013 they've had at least one good thing every year, so I'm good.
>>
>>151988489
Tamako Market is the last thing they've had that resembled a good show.
>>
>>151988481

Too much drama and less focus on the band as a whole.
>>
>>151988294
Implying Hyouka was good.
>>
>>151988609
The drama was literally the point of the show, it wasn't K-On
>>
You don't know anything about anime, newfag. Get back in your One Piss/Gintama/HunterxHunter threads or whatever shithole you crawled out from.

>>151988763
go jerk off to your 2 seasons of Free

>meanwhile based KyoAni is comfy as f and young people flock there en masse because of KyoAni's god-tier work ethic
>>
Hyouka was garbage, K-On was garbage and Kyoani overall are garbage.

Only morons ever thought they were great and morons continue to think that way.

No, you're a really stupid idiot, sorry.

Even though you are exaggerating (slighty) most people here really don't know how much better kyoani treats it's animators compared to 90% of studios.

Hibike was the best KyoAni show since Clannad AS

Er, what's your point then? That they have to care more about some random gaijins talking shit on the internet board than money? They're doing bloody business and need to make money, which they've been extremely successful. Put your irrelevant ranting into the bin and move on

why do you appreciate the sum of someone elses' paycheck over the quality of the product they are supposed to make?

I only remembered that their last anime was Nisekoi. I seriously didn't know that they made 3-gatsu. I think that majority of their anime lineup after Madoka is getting forgotten over time except for Nisekoi and Monogatari.

One of the big failings of other Japanese anime studios is that they're still trying to be socialistic and helping each another out by subcontracting small works to the smaller studios who need to do inbetweens during production phases to just stay alive.
Since Kyoto Animation hasn't joined the solidarity pact, they aren't morally obliged to help out other Japanese animation studios.

There's definitely too many anime studios around, and perhaps the other middle tier studios should just do the right thing and start letting the lower-tier studios die than keep them alive through breadcrumbs.
It's harsh, but at this point, the still huge number of anime studios leads to a situation where the Anime Consortium can easily exploit the studios by keeping budget down and threatening to just hiring another studio.

Socialism and solidarity is nice and all, but sometimes, not everyone can be saved.

There’s a whole world between J-Drama soap opera bullshit and K-On. A world in which a good show would have been possible. There could have been so many interesting conflicts they could have focused on, but instead the majority of the show was about the kind of drama you need to be a 13 year old teenage girl to enjoy.

If the choice is between bad drama and no drama at all, I’ll choose no drama any day of the week, thank you very much.
>>
>>151992620
But to be fair, Sound Euphonium was always going to be a teenage drama.
It was always advertised as such, so everyone should expect it to be a teenage drama.

They just made their best show ever. They'll probably never top it either.
>>
>>151988294
Because of "their" technical proficiencies, certain staff members (Yamada, Kigami) and the fact that their business model is light years ahead of everyone else's. I think everything's been shit since Nichijou, but even I can't help but admire them to an extent.
>>
>>151992773
Yeah, I guess I was just blinded by the first season that managed to be about a surprising amount of teenage drama that isn’t just annoying bullshit once your brain stops being drugged by puberty. The club politics were genuinely interesting, the slight sports anime approach to gitting gud at music is something I’d have loved to see more of and the whole conflict around balancing competitive hobby, free time and school was amazing. Heck, the second season even dropped the ball on that one hard, instead of deciding what you go for the conflict is solved by Asuka just being superhuman and doing everything at once. Cheap deus ex machina to avoid talking about the actually interesting stuff.

Fuck the second season.
>>
>>151988481
Season 2 was good but the ending sucked. They didn't even show them performing which was a bad idea.
>>
>>151992940
It would be easy for the other middle tier studios to follow up their business model.
But they lack the will to let all the low-tier anime studios to die.
>>
There are only two methods of evaluating the success of art.

1. Is it popular
2. Is it well reviewed

A show can be considered 'good' if it meets one of those criteria. Yes, this means 'your least favorite horrible entry level show that kids watch' is good because it succeeds at its purpose, being an entry level show for kids. This also means that 'your favorite well reviewed but nobody watches it show for adults like me' is also good because it's well reviewed even if nobody watches it.

A show can be both, and often times are but not always. History is littered with examples in literature, theater, film, and video games of stories that are well reviewed but nobody sees. How many Pulitzer prize authors are blockbuster movies? I can name none.

So get over yourselves. Stop calling something popular bad or criticize it for not being like your favorite show. It's what it is, move on.
>>
>>151993259
I think we'll see more of these types of studios in the near future. The industry IS going to collapse, and the studios that survive are gonna be those ones. I've seen a conscious desire to operate like they do too. A good thing, definitely.

>>151993304
You mean a show can be considered successful, not good.
>>
>>151992957
Why would you want the second season to hit the reset button and go through the same dramatic arcs? It had much more powerful drama instead
>>
>>151993494
I don’t. I just want it to depict drama that’s on about the same level of quality, which it wasn’t.
>>
>>151991773

>>151993407
No, I mean it can be considered good.

It took over 100 years for critics to finally realize Uncle Tom's Cabin was good. It was popular at the time, critics felt it shouldn't be given the same place as more 'important' works like Moby Dick or Walden. It's finally now being recognized as influential and good and making its way into college literature textbooks.

Stop being butthurt.

Either this is bad logic or you're arguing success = quality in which case, okay, but don't expect to be able to argue that or have anyone listen to you.
