Why was Yu Yu never as popular as other manga of the era?
And why was it so short?
Togashi was basically a slave at the time and couldn't handle the stress to continue. He said many times what made him finish YYH was the emotional and physical stress he went through.
YYH was never a big hit overseas but it was what made Togashi's name in Japan and still a classic, with figures and merchandise made periodically.
Togashi doesn't have the consistent work ethic it takes to make hugely popular shonen manga.
That isn't to say he's a bad manga author. I really enjoy his work, but he's too human to shit out chapter after chapter, week after week. HunterXHunter has been on and off hiatus for fucking ever, and I think that really speaks volumes about Togashi as an author.
Sometimes you just have to accept that something will never be a huge hit, and that's quite alright. As long as you enjoy it.
>YYH and HxH aren't huge hits
Nice meme.
Not everything can be Dragon Ball, you fucking mouthbreathers.

I thought it was extremely fucking popular & influential at the time? Or do you mean internationally?

It was, they're retarded newfags, the series has 19 volumes, wich is a lot. These kids think every popular manga has 70 volumes like Naruto.

It's like the FMA of our time
when Bleach was at the height of its popularity was it more popular than YYH was?
>>151988006
yeah but I think that was a virtue of anime being more popular and the advent of the internet
