Do you prefer the main character to be an idealistic and uncompromising hero or a flawed but compelling individual?
Idealistic, uncompromising but flawed and acknowledging their flaws.

Yes
>>Noibf maybe

It depends on the story. I think antiheroes are often most interesting, though.
Flawed individual that overcomes their flaws.
>>151980816
flawed but compelling individual
>>151980816
Rorschach is a good example of both of those things combined. That's what I like.
>>151980816
I prefer elements of both, but I usually lean towards the latter.
A flawed but compelling individual who's biggest flaw is her idealistic and uncompromising outlook on life.
It depends on the flaw. I can't stand the perverted trope, for example. Also soullessness is something I hate.

This pretty much sums it up.
>>151980816
They can be both, but there's something about a idealistic hero that breaks down bit by bit but still maintains that spark of idealism even as they get more ruthless.
>>151980816
>idealistic and uncompromising
Those are some pretty massive flaws desu senpai
Those are really long words.
I like it when the main character is cute.
I don't know which he counts as. "Idealistic" seems like a pretty fucking big flaw in his case, don't ya think?
>Leave your head with me.
why not both
>>151980816
Lots of people people are going to say
>flawed but compelling individual
But we all know that /a/ really means
>idealistic and uncompromising hero
>>151980816
Depends more on execution than what type they belong to.
Name a better hero than pic related

Because Shirou is an annoying piece of shit that even Nasu agrees is written horribly.
>>151980816
Both is good.
Flawed, bloodied, bruised, and really hurt, but still idealistic and willing to fight for those who have wronged them in the past anyways because they believe everyone can be saved.
Bonus points if they're right about being able to save everyone, even the villains, through sheer persistence.

You sound like someone who unironically enjoys AMVs
>>151988447
Hell yes.
>>151988448
Nah, I'm just a sucker for optimistic stories in cynical settings.

Yeah pretty much the perfect description of him pre-NT10 and still post-NT10.
