At this point we as humans can survive without eating meat, we could be eating some bullshit supplements and milk instead or whatever but we don't or at least most of us don't. We don't eat just to survive, we eat because it's fun and tasty.

I myself eat meat at least once a day, I get that at some point before the tasty stir fry in my hand use to be part of some cow, and that cow probably felt allot of pain and terror when it got slaughtered and I do feel a little bad about that, but not enough to stop eating it. Got the strong urge to rewatch this, but I'm still so fucking mad about the art style. It could've been so much creepier if they had more subdued colouring and character designs, their gaudy hairstyles are so distracting and the whole thing just looks way too generic and cheap to do the storyline justice. It's a feat that it still managed to be creepy for the first part of the story at least, but the more you see the vampires the less scary they are because they look so goddamn stupid.

Oh I like the theme in itself, it's just that most shows I've seen portray it as either edgy cool or simply unbelievable. I believed in Ozaki's change because it happened gradually and for a good reason. He was obviously looking out for his patients and you could feel his despair before he snapped. The show also didn't glorify it, he just did what had to be done.
Maybe I just watched bad shows with this trope, but it was just different from what I've seen.
