First, memories are complicated. People with amnesia don't forget how to speak or eat or live, and they often remember their skills. What they lose are information about other people, their friends and family, and themselves. They only get wiped if they lose all five coins fully.

The whole 90 days thing was very clearly explained, so I'm not sure what the confusion is. If you reach the limit with any amount of coin remaining, your LRIG doesn't take over, but you lose memories at random proportionally to the darkened portions. They key point is randomly. Shouhei's entire fear was forgetting Chinatsu like he forgot his old friends on the soccer team.

I've watched Infected/Spread three times over, and anyone claiming Spread is some abomination and Infected was a masterpiece is a meme-spouting retard. One follows very naturally from the other, and while there was less shocking reveals in Spread (they'd kind of gotten the main revelations out of the way in Infected), the two are very comparable. Spread's opening episodes are kind of slow, by necessity after the end of Infected, but after that the quality is pretty much the same.

Lostorage, on the other hand, is definitely weaker than both. It has plenty of interesting ideas, and executes them well enough to satisfy the itch for more Wixoss, but the overall production feels much less confident, and there were a few too many moments that stood out as poorly done. It's not like I didn't enjoy it, but Infected/Spread had a much more steady hand at the wheel. I am curious as to what marathoning Lostorage does for it, though, I found Infected/Spread were noticeably better when you were able to watch them in chunks of three to five episodes at a time.

That's not what I am saying, instead giving the perspective of a male guy dealing with the fact their memories are being erased. You could make a point about Shohei, but his case turn around the idea of Chinatsu as her potential lover. I'd have been complety interesting to see how his choices affected deeply his life as long as he shows concern for his family and closer friends.

Pretty much the same here. While the cruel twists are the best part of the franchise, with the absolute highlight being the fulfillment of Kiyoi's wish in Peeping Analyze, I find the quality of Infected's narrative is overstated, especially compared to Spread. The only part of Infected's story I thought was actually good, apart from the climax to episode 12, was Yuzuki's arc, being surprising, convincing and involving a pretty interesting character. Hitoe's was bland and eyeroll-inducing, as was the whole character of Hitoe in season 1, and the rest of the story was kind of predictable and clichéd. Aki-lucky, for example, was a generic "oh she's cute but wait she's actually a bitch" character, whereas Aki-lovely was genuinely unsettlingly psychotic. And while people say Spread went closer to a traditional narrative... so what? I thought it was more convincing and better quality, and telling Mayu's story improved the duology overall for me. Backstory could been an unnecessary addition, but I thought introducing Mayu and establishing her as just a really fucked-up, hateful child, and that's why the Selector battles are so fucked-up and hateful, was great stuff.
