The Kyuubi acted mostly as a Deus Ex Machina plot device when Naruto was getting fucked and fucked him physically after using it. That works in part one where he got limited chakra handouts and had to actually fight most of the time and only made use of the kyubi as a last resort when he was about to die. Naruto's "Power ups" were nothing more but bursts of the Kyuubi's power that Naruto hated using and wanted to avoid before Kishimoto dropped the ball and made Naruto buddy buddy with the Kyuubi and gave him godlike power for free.

No it wasn't Naruto was a kid and what he wanted to prove was not about power, he went at it the wrong way in the beginning but he grew out of it after a while.

What you don't seem to understand is that everyone always knew Naruto was dangerous, THAT'S THE FUCKING REASON THEY HATED HIM. The entire point was not becoming powerful, the entire point was to beat destiny and going from someone everyone hated to someone everyone accepts, sure it's a battle shonen and he had to power up and fight enemies for that but everyone finally accepted Naruto when Ino did her jutsu to show his life, they finally understood what he wanted, they finally understood what he had lived.

The entire point of Naruto is mutual understanding and love vs hate. It's present in Haku/Zabuza vs Team 7, Naruto vs Neji(Neji's story wasn't about power, it was about him being powerful but still "locked"), Naruto vs Gaara is the biggest so far, Gaara was stronger than everyone else in the village but even then he was not respected, he was not loved and they wanted him to die. It was present in Hashirama vs Madara, in Naruto vs Obito, and of course in Naruto vs Sasuke.


The story was about pain, love, hatred and bonds. Not hardwork beats talent, Sasuke was a genius but he worked hard, Hashirama was a genius but he worked hard, Neji was a genius but he worked hard, Madara was a genius but he worked hard.

The rest of that arc is a constant retcon asspull mess, and as someone who faithfully sat through it from beginning to end giving Kishi the benefit of the doubt, that's putting it very nicely.

Overall, I stand by my ground that the taijitsu fights, character design, and soundtrack in the entire series is pretty good. but the rest was too many missed opportunities.

I'd have to agree. She had a good premise but never actually did anything. Had Kishimoto played his cards right, she could have been an interesting character, using a combination of genjutsu, medical habilities and absurd physical strenght.
Hell even her only interesting fight was that 2 vs 1 against Sasori in which she was mostly used as a puppet, and only won because Sasori decided to kill himself at the end.

And she finally marrying Sasuke would have been a lot more satisfying had she actually stopped loving him for a while when he was an asshole and eventually liking him again after he came back to Konoha. As it is, it looks like she never got over a particualrly unhealthy crush.
