I dunno, probably because we hate our lives enough to want to see everything we could possibly want in an attractively stylized universe.

Izetta wasn't bad because of fan service, by the way. The characters were just supremely flat and the plot was driven by people being stupid. It wouldn't have offended me as badly as it did, if it weren't a representation of the single greatest waste of human life in our history. It takes a special sort of talent to make WWII boring, and even moreso to completely fail to relate any of the pain and death it caused to the viewer.

I know this is bait but I will still reply to it since there's retards who actually believe this.

First, sex is a core part of human relationship, we either do or think about it on a daily basis and that's reflected in both our actions and mentality in everyday life. Fanservice/sex appears in any medium with frequency because it is relatable and important to us and to the person written the story and excluding It is the same as denying or letting a part of us out of said works.

Second, fanservice or anything related to sex in an standard work of fiction isn't the same as porn and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to get its brain checked. interactions involving sex feel more natural and relatable to us in a drama because they are part of the story, not the whole story, just like in our own lives. We watch porn just to fap, while we watch drama for the story, characters and etc and sex is just a complementary part of It that ends up being more meaningful and relatable than in porn for the very fact that it is more complementary and contextualized.

Not to mention that sex/fanservice in standard works of fiction occur involve characters we care about in a story we care about, not just a bunch of literally who that are there just to make us fap.
