People made the appropriate noises at the appropriate times in my theater. There was chuckling at the forest spirits and the village women's banter, there was a few gasps every time Ashitaka did something cool like catching the arrow. This. The only time I ever saw people clap at the end of the movie was Star Wars. And they were all fanboy idiots who kept screaming during the movie.
