Then there's the fact that most magical girls either keep to themselves, keep their heads down and don't cause waves in government, or are too busy with their work for love. The whole thing smacks of Melville getting stupidly lucky. Lapis might have done an aerial rave from below, smashed her into the ground from above, or teleported anywhere else around her to continue the combo. So it feels like a completely unnecessary death for Lapis.
