Anyway to be clear. GuP is not WARFARE anime, its sports (as martial arts/archery or similar sport) anime with cute girls. Its show warfare stuff , some in realistic way and some not, depending on context. Those are for sake of story what is about and warfare story would be diffrent. Yes tanks behave diffrrently but those are either modified tanks or made to resemble real tanks in most aspects but not perfect replica, for sake of this sport being sport not gladiatorial matches where people die or got injured easy. As for why, you may miss subtle indicators (like island sized carrier for school) that anime world technology level is different than ours.
Also you you whine how its like warfare but then you complain how tournament have unbalanced teams fighting each other. Pick up one thing or you just nitpicking.

I admited to watching GuP for wrong reasons, but what the fuck does tank warfare have to do with unequal setups? They aren't reenacting historic events. You say it's a sport yet one team gets huge advantages over others; what kind of fucking sport is that? If depicted era technology is negligible, then why didn't they just fuck up the maus in its thick face?

The fact that it's a tournament means they should have set at least some guidelines to what is the minimum requirement and what is the maximum. But there seem to be none as shown by the last battle of the anime. I just wonder why noone used Abrams, Leopards, Challengers, T-90 and other shit against the type 89. I'm sure the protagonists could out skill them, so why not?

You don't need to bring 11 players onto the field though. If your team is smaller than the other team, you may still compete. It's not Bayern München's fault if you only have 2 friends that want anything to do with you.
Besides, even if you bring 10 friends with you, you'd still be outmanned by them, as they have a long bench and can make sure that they have well-rested players throughout the whole game.
