Is it good?
>>151796248
Yes indeed
>>151796248
overrated trash
Studio Ghibli is pretty overrated as a studio, but this movie is entirely deserving of its praise.
It's an undeniable classic.
>>151796248
Yes.
>>151796248
yes
>>151796248
How have you not seen this?
>>151796248
It's amazing.
Definitely one of the best Ghibli movies, if not the best of their more "serious" ones.
Fuck off.
>>151796248
Yes it is.
>>151796248
It's showing in a lot of American theatres this next week. Go see it on the big screen, anon
Oh god yes. I just saw it again recently. It hasn't aged a bit.
>>151796248
Very much.
>>151796248
It's meh. Not half as good as people say.
>>151796248
I honestly hate this movie more and more each year because it's too perfect.
I know this sounds pretentious but it really does aggravateme watching something so beautiful and well thought out and clearly a work of cinema done for the love of the art in contrast to shit that churns out of the bowels of western cinema like The Emoji Movie or 80's Cartoon Franchise Live Action Adaptation #315423

>hipster alert!
I'm not a huge fan of the plot, but direction and animation is amazing.
>>151802732
Oh my god fucking kill yourself
It was very well reviewed and well-received.
It was one of Ebert's top 10 movies for 1999, it has that Akira status of being a good movie rather than just a good anime.
>>151796248
Probably the best thing produced by Ghibli. If you haven't seen it you shouldn't be posting on /a/.
>>151802839
LUL
My favorite ghibli movie.
>>151796333
This. It's good but very overhyped compared to other Ghibli films. I'd be challenged to put it in the top 5.
>>151796248
Memes aside it's very good, almost flawless but stuff like that isn't fun to talk about, at leats not here
So do they never meet again or something? She kissed him, how can he get married now?
>>151805894
>So do they never meet again or something?
Probably not. They decided to part ways for the best.
>>151796248
It's my favorite and the best Ghibli movie. Spirited Away gets a lot of praise but I enjoyed this movie 100 times more. It's a masterpiece and one of the best animated movies of all time. I liked the not over the top but darker tone of the movie and I wish Miazaki would do another movie like this.

>muh environment
Why is Miyazaki such a fucking ideologue? Takahata is one hundred times better
>>151805967
Can't you look past the message and just enjoy the pretty drawings?
>>151796248
Anime kino like kinos journey
>>151805997
>Can't you look past the message
are you serious?
>>151806044
I was making a joke.
>>151805967
I wouldn't mind the ideologies of they weren't so ham-fisted. It's one thing to be optimistic about a subject, it's another to sanctimoniously rant for 2 hours about how his worldview is the only correct one. If the subject were as simple as "nature good, people bad", we'd have solved this a long time ago.
>>151806090
ah, I thought you were one of those sakugafags
>>151806209
fucking this
>>151796248
A theater near me is doing a showing on Thursday for the 20th anniversary with two different showings for the dub and subs. It's been a minute since I've watched it so I'm excited to see it on the big screen.
I loved it, although the ending always makes me laugh a bit.

The only Miyazaki film that's better is Laputa.
