It can always get worse. Satou is at least fit and healthy (physicaly). He has no social status but all of his basic needs (neets?) are met, and is in no risk of getting involved in a war or a gang.
The only millenials that understand suffering are the ones that went through it themselves. Maybe this is good. It means that there are people out there who don't know what daddy or mommy issues are, or who think homelessness is something like an episode of Gintama.

Yeah that's what I mean, that ending was at least realistic somewhat. He got a job as a traffic manager, that's even lower. They don't always search for trash men so that is a little bit harder to get, there always is a need for traffic managers though, they would hire monkeys for that.

It's not about jumping in the manga, they use superior oxide poisoning and yes, he actually stays in the tent fully intending to die. He wakes up later because the group he was with dragged him out when he fell unconcious because they all got cold feet. Everyone got a little resolution but him iirc.
It was some nice sequencing. Much better than the shit in the show.

He got it good in the end. Most of us won't.
