In a show where even some redshirt nobody like Makota has an issue like his crush getting railed by a super-chad like Kaji, Aoba never seems to have any sort of issues or drama. Some people need to be broken down without love, and Rei had to sneakily use other ways to get to the person she wanted. She can only appear as people already dead or gone.

For this guy, it was fear, she just scared her way through his AT Field. With Shinji, she appeared as Asuka, who was in fact dead, and got Shinji to open up his AT Field with anger when she playacted as Asuka to infuriate him and get him to strangle her and open up his AT field with anger.

Relax, that's just interpretation. In Eva if anyone tells you "this is the way it is" you need to understand that that means "I watched it and this is my opinion." Nobody every came out and said that was what that scene definitively meant.

You could also interpret it as Yui showing unusually strong aggression against a human in a way she singles no one else out. Also note other instances of her choosing Shinji over Gendo. Plus like half the man's spine and legs are left on earth as though eaten away. It's not an unambiguously happy scene.
