Gintama is a great anime but it really fumbled with the last season. Really should have managed their budget better and tried to keep the original director on.

Gintama is pretty god, but people talk like it was a masterpiece, which is not.

MAL really did a number on this series. They overhyped the most recent season while proclaiming the rest of the series as a masterpiece. Gintama is a good anime but it isn't flawless.

Meanwhile contrarians on /a/ refuse to enjoy it simply because it's more popular now than it was 6 years ago.

The action arcs usually have at least 1 scene with a jump up in quality. This one was a long mostly action arc with a drop in quality overall. Huge bummer.
At least there are some humor-centric chapters in between the current serious business chapters going on now.

The Silver Soul arc is channelling old style Gintama at its finest. There's still a handful of comedy even in some of the most action heavy parts. Well with one exception...anything involving Utsuro. He's single-handedly sinking the series.
