>Yuri on Ice
There are actually people who believe this.
It's a drama that's a better sport's anime than most sports anime only because of the choreography and attention to technical detail
>Stop liking thing I don't like
>actually having watched YOI
They dedicated almost too much time to the actual skating, they should've cut out more of the programs. Some episodes were literally 90% skating. If it lacks the focus on sport that other sports anime have, it's because Yuuri is already a technically proficient pro and doesn't need a training arc or much time dedicated to skill building. It's a character drama and a romance as well, true, but those subplots were always woven into the skating itself.
How is it not? It's about a competitive sport. The competition is actually the most important thing for the characters. Having homo or fanservice doesn't make it not a sports anime.
Except they do:
successfully landed all jumps cleanly
3A 4S-3T(x) 4T(x)
step sequence and spins slowed down towards the end
landed all jumps, but 4S stepped-out+one hand down (-3 GOE)
3A(x) 4S(x) 4T-3T(x)
step sequence and spins carried very well throughout
(x)= landed in the second half = 10% added to base value (so a jump that’s 10.5 points would be worth 11.55 points)
3T= Triple Toe-loop
3A= Triple Axel
4T= Quadruple Toe-loop
4S= Quadruple Salchow
GOE = Grade Of Execution (-3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, +3 points)(added to jumps, spins, and step sequence)
higher-quality jumps (so he would get bonus points for execution)
i.e. Yuuri’s step-out+hand-down 4S would earn 7.5 points instead of the base score of 10.5 - if we include the 10% bonus from being in the second half, he earned 8.55 out of the possible 11.55 points; in contrast, if Yurio jumped a clean&well-executed solo 4S in the second half, he would get some positive GOE points and it might be worth 13.55~14.55 points. That’s 5~6 points difference.
the harder combination jump
Yurio’s 4S-3T > Yuuri’s 4T-3T
4S+3T = 14.8 +10% bonus = 16.28
4T+3T = 14.6 +10% bonus = 16.06
And if he nails it (which he did here) that’s even more points.
more difficult transitions into the jumps (he has the skating skills to pull it off)
One of the criteria for the “bonus points” (GOE) is tricky or unique entrances/exits of a jump.
Helped by having great skating skills, this allows him to keep the energy high in the second half (fast spins, precise choreography, complex footwork). This means his PCS gets a boost. Also, this lets him push all of his jumps to the second half.
Program Component Scores (PCS)
This is where Skating Skills, Transitions, Performance, Composition, and Interpretation get points. On a scale of 10, an average high-level Senior skater might get 7′s. Yuuri is known for his skating skills, so I’ll assume he gets scores in the 8.0~9.0 range which is really good.
i.e. Yurio has 7+7.5+8+8+8 = 38.5 points
Yuuri has 8+8.5+9+9+9 = 43.5 points
He could make up for the 4S blunder right here.
Let’s do something crazy: calculating the scores:
Yurio - jump base value calculation:
3A + 4S-3T x + 4T x
8.5 + ((10.5+4.3)+((10.5+4.3)*.10)) + (10.3+(10.3*.10)) =
8.5+16.28+11.33 = 36.11
Yuuri - jump base value calculation:
3A x + 4S x + 4T-3T x
(8.5+(8.5*.10)) + (10.5+(10.5*.10)) + ((10.3+4.3)+((10.3+4.3)*.10)) = 9.35+11.55+16.06 = 36.96
So technically speaking, the difficulty is about equal element-wise, but Yuuri’s program is a little harder since everything is in the second half.
Victor probably held back on putting all of Yurio’s jumps in the second half because of his stamina. He’s not playing favorites, though – at this stage, with Yuuri not as stable with his jumps, the points would more-or-less balance out.
If you add my estimated PCS:
36.11(jumps)+38.5(PCS) = 74.61 (Yurio)
36.96(jumps)+43.5(PCS) = 80.46 (Yuuri)
add in the GOE (Grade Of Execution - the “bonus/deduction points”):
74.61 + (GOE of +2 on 3A) + (GOE of +2 on combination jump) + (GOE of +2 on 4T) =
74.61+6 = 80.61 (Yurio)
80.46 + (GOE of +1 on the 3A (b/c Victor complained a lot)) + (-3 GOE for step-out & one hand down) + (GOE of +2 on combination jump) =
80.46+0 = 80.46 (Yuuri)
Then you have to add spins and the step sequence - which is Yuuri’s forte. There are a bunch of different types of spin positions and steps. A full spin element or step sequence is given a level (1,2,3,4 with 4 as the hardest), and then you add GOE. I’m not so good at reading step sequences to give these levels- and the full step sequence isn’t shown anyway - so we’re going to take into account a few things: 1.Yurio had a good spin at the beginning, but lost some precision and stamina later in his program. 2.Yuuri had more energy than Yurio at the end to keep the final spin and footwork sharp. 3. Yuuri kept his spins and steps high-quality, but it’s early in the season so there’s room for improvement.
I’m using the same spins for both Yurio and Yuuri to level the playing field here. I’m reflecting Yuuri’s strength here by giving him higher levels and GOE.
Sp=spin, StSq= step sequence, # = level
(I’m taking actual scores from the most recent Autumn Classic. Of all the spins, I chose ones that had GOEs which should be fair to Yurio and Yuuri.)
FCSp4 + 0.30 GOE = 3.50
CSSp3 + 1.10 GOE = 3.70
StSq3 + 0.70 GOE = 4.00
CCoSp3 + 0.60 GOE = 3.60
FCSp3 + 0.80 GOE = 3.60
CSSp4 + 0.90 GOE = 3.90
StSq4 + 2.10 GOE = 6.00
CCoSp4 + 1.20 GOE = 4.70
= 18.20 (Yuuri)
Meaning a few points advantage for Yuuri.
80.61+14.70 = 95.31 (Yurio)
80.46+18.20 = 98.66 (Yuuri)
Even if we don’t do guess work on the step sequence and spins, as long as Yuuri was better than Yurio in one spin he would have won the competition. I was also conservative in the PCS because it’s early in the pre-season and I can’t see the step sequence clearly. If Yuuri was as good as Takeshi implied (“a Yuuri like we’ve never seen”), then he could easily have beyond 9′s - which is another few points above Yurio.
And those are the cold-hard facts. (or at least, as numerical as possible)
(btw: a 3.35 point difference is good. Close, but definitely not something you would say “he barely won!”)
End. Take that, deniers. The maths don't lie.
>ywn have a Pig moaning and writhing underneath you
Just end me now.
Victor is so damn handsome in that pic
So what you're telling me is that JJ should in fact have scored zero.
My S2 hopes and dreams include Otabeard.
I like to think of it this way.
JJ won the bronze, but Otabek won the blonde.
Chris has a loving boyfriend, a fluffy cat, and mature eros aplenty. Episode 12 was senseless but he will overcome.
The sparkles was maja
Chris clearly lost because he wasn't feeling it enough to cum on the ice. I think I know why we haven't seen his boyfriend in competitions before.
Success breeds jealousy, senpai.
Chris made the ultimate mistake and had sex before the competition and used up all his testosterone.
T-thanks for your hard work anon. I g-guess.
I know you didn't write this yourself and are just copypastaing but all of it can be reduced to dust by making you realize Sayo and Kubo forgot about Zayak's rule in Yurio's free.
Adam Rippon has superior taste in men and hair styles
I applaud you
>we will never get to see Fairy and Otabek waking up together
>we will never get to see Fairy nuzzling sleepily against Otabek's stubble
>waiting until 18 for some inexplicable reason when the age of consent in Kazakhstan and Russia is 16
I hate fanfic authors but I will say I enjoyed the stubble-service in this
Don't delete this and also post more.
Quick photoshop fix, maybe they didn't want to offend other readers?
This hits so many of my kinks it's not funny, I was planning on eventually rioting if there wasn't enough Yuuri/Phichit lewds.
>If sayakubo got their way Yuuri's ass would look like this all the time.
>Piggy will never be drawn with the fat ass he deserves
Why even live
The lack of Yuuri/Phichit art lewd or otherwise is truly upsetting.
Most do, even anorexic skaters like Johnny.
Ice sports in general tend to give its players big asses, because it's all about squats and working your legs.
It's still not impossible for Yurio to get over 200 for the free. It would only mean that they didn't penalize him that much. And after all, overscoring and underscoring are common in real life competitions. (And JJ obviously got overscored)
So no, nothing reduced to dust, too bad.
>you will never have a big booty Piggy
Life isn't fair.
Not mine, google the text to find where it comes from. There are people who dismiss anything just by looking at an address (even when it's pro analysis), so I chose to be prudent.
Glad I was right to.
I don't know why people get so autistic about scores in a fictional show. If the intention of the writers was for x character to win x medal all along then as long as it's not a massive discrepancy who fucking cares. If it's part of the narrative that x character got over or underscored and that's a dilemma in the show then yes, that's something to talk about. Otherwise you just sound autistic as fuck.
Makkachin has two daddies now, that dog must be spoiled rotten.
Vicchan doesn't mind as long as his owner is happy.
Also, Yuuri remembers him in ep 8.
And then I would've known that this show was just baiting the gay instead of going fully for it. But you're right, it would've been funny.
Thank you for posting this. As a skate-fag it triggers me when people are all 'HURR DURR MUH SCORING'.
Seriously, of all the fucking detail they put into this faggoty anime you thing they would fuck up the scoring? Have more goddamn faith in Sayo that woman is a skate-autist.
plugsuits are my kink
who would be rei
I don't know why but EVA inspired YOI shit tickles me.
I actually really like the dubs, as much as they are shit, they are genuinely funny. The ad libs are great.
There's been a fair bit of crossover art around for a while, on a superficial level the similarities are obvious.
just a man whom seduces an anxiety riddled nip in the bath.
Is Yuuri better at everything when he's drunk?
Wait I forgot reference post, here you go.
I just wanna know how he is in bed when his drunk. Is his stamina enough to keep his dick up?
>Objectively, how is Makkachin still alive
Assuming Victor he got him when he was 17 years old Makkachin would be... 11? 12? Not old at all for a dog.
It's about the same age as mine actually. Still has another 5-6 years maybe.
>ywn get your face pushed into the mattress while piggy fucks you over and over with his superhuman stamina
True, he must be a beast if he can handle his alcohol that well
Yeah it had a lot of gay shit but also a lot of skating. It's kind of baffling. The reused so much footage but I can't feel invested in it because I can't be invested in characters I barely know BECAUSE they spend so much time showing every performance of the literal whos.
Sports anime usually give you glimpses of other matches but not to this extent for good reason. Too many episodes just felt plain samey.
>piggy will never pump and dump you
Fuck this gay earth
I want Piggy to take a bottle of champagne and pour it down his back, and as it cascades down his spine and the small of his back, I place my mouth in his ass and I rim him while drinking the champagne
>implying he doesn't
>Hey Vicchan did you know what your namesake did today?
>Vicchan I got another Victor poster! He's so pretty, just like someone else named after him
>Sorry Vicchan you can't sleep here tonight I need private time with the, uh, other Victor
Sluts are my fetish and Baldfat are god tier sluts with a nice side of situational purity
Are you ready to watch a busted old man suffer?
how does this image make you feel?
are you implying that's not what the entirety of S1 was about?
I LOVE VICTOR SO MUCH I WANT TO KISS HIS TEARS AWAY AND HUG HIM
I wonder, he didn't seem to have problems landing jumps while practicing with Yuuri. I know he's getting older but he doesn't seem rusty. Having to train with a stamina freak like Yuuri probably kept him on his toes.
>the one year in the past twenty that Viktor has somebody to spend his birthday with and they can't even be in the same country
His own fault for deciding to make his comeback during Nationals, probably didn't think that one through.
1. All of them
You can admit you also watch it for the boypussy, Anon
If I had to rate them by attractiveness alone:
4. Young Bald
Technically there's nothing to prevent a skater from using old programs. He could do his programs from last year just for nationals to tide him over until European Championships, though, he probably wouldn't be happy about it.
>tfw I want to see him realistically struggle with age and the limits of his body but I also want to see him steamroll everyone again
Most of all though, as much as I would have liked it if ep 10-11 was his bittersweet goodbye to competitions as he found a happier place by Yuri's side, I want season 2 to be about Victor's swan song to the place that loved him so well.
>technically there's nothing to prevent a skater from using old programs
post yfw Yuuri reuses Eros as his short program in S2.
I can't see Victor reusing his programs, surprise is his motto. He seems to be able to come up with programs pretty fast and is thoroughly inspired by Yuuri, he'd have something ready to go in a few days.
Viktor uses it instead and breaks Yurio's record first try
>ready to go in a few days
remember he has all his sad homo music commissioned so that might take a while
He's a cute. I hope he find happiness.
>Why does it look like Chris's arms are around Phichit?
I remember when this drawing came out and everyone freaked out about Thai being molested by gross Chris. Now we know the truth, Chris is just being an awesome bro and who wouldn't want to be held by him?
It's has less shit posting than a normal thread, quite comfy.
I can't wait. Aside from the butthurt being fun, it's just really satisfying when a series that sets a good precedent for the industry (fujos don't hate canon gay, not everything should be set in highschool/about teens, staff should really love what they're writing about etc) does well.
Those little girls will grow up to be pros too.
I'm so fucking glad that YoI is doing well commercially, and I'll be happy about that, but it's really frustrating seeing so many hate YoI (in the west particularly) for the wrong reasons. Criticism is one thing but it's just pure white hot anger because it's not what they like. It's kinda saddening seeing people get so butthurt over an anime that I feel a lot of love was put into.
Kubo was getting spammed by weeb Bikefairies after the Mila comments, and this is her way of telling them to chill the fuck out. Like >>151778825 said, the implication of putting Bikefairy next to Baldfat is pretty obvious.
It's their fault for misreading. Anyway, they should be calmer now.
>Kubo was getting spammed by weeb Bikefairies after the Mila comments
God I hope SayoKubo have their head protection on when they visit Texas. If it's even a shade similar to the violent retardation on her twitter comments, that panel is going to be chaos.
From what I gather it's 50% Burger autism and 50% Taco retardation. Why does Mexico like YOI so much in particular anyway?
I prefer calling Guang Hong
>what did she mean by this?
Clearly that Otabek is straight and totally down for hooking up with Mila and just being friends with his best bro Yurio.
Ignore all the shojo stuff that happened in episode 10 between Otabek and Yurio and that Kubo drew these two together on the Yurio cover right next to the main pair (who are totally not gay, just two dudes with matching lucky charm rings)
Kubo is trying to "straighten" everything out for the fans.
What girls do you think Yurio, Yuri, and Victor are going to hook up with?
That might be too much since they're not mains but they don't have to worry about any girls.
That nickname could be so many people though.
Yurio is going to hook up with Mila and they'll both scream "BEKA" as they climax.
The most autistic of them are just going to stay in their houses, but yes, hopefully that panel is heavily moderated. Though I do hope they get asked some semi-hardball questions and it isn't just endless fawning.
i think when they are forced to be separate they'll be alright for the first little while. they'll be trying to focus on skating and ignoring just how badly they miss each other. then we'll get an airport-esque scene with them reuniting
and a kissu ;_;
Hetfag thought process is typically either "ewwww icky homos, this is the gayest shit ever" or "they're such great platonic bros, why do fujos have to ruin straight male friendship with their gay delusions?"
I hope we don't get BaldFat part 2 with BikeFairy. I want them to have their own things without retreading exactly what the others did. I hope one of them isn't autistic like Yuuri (though Otabek is asian...)
It's nice to think that prior to Episode 10, BikeFairy was just the fever dream of some delusional anons.
Sometimes dreams do come true.
Thanks I watched it.
The costumes were enchanting.
The antipication for the spins was breathtaking.
The yuri was great.
The chicks were superior to haremshit/10
Would watch again. Now
I want to wipe this smug smile I have and puke over how gay this shit was.
And they're not even canon status. That's a not yet hopefully, but it seems Kubo will remain on the implied so everyone can imagine their ideal futures stance until the end. I don't mind though since this is still much more than we're used to.
Remember the "Victor is only nice to him for publicity" meme? Kek.
Because fujos aren't dumb enough to spend money on garbage BL adaptions instead of just going for whatever series/characters/ships they enjoy regardless of how canon they are.
I really don't care about them one way or the other, but if they are just friends with a side of homo, that just seems reasonable to me. They are too young for BaldFat shenanigans. Yurio especially needs to learn to have friends before lovers anyway.
Minako, Yuuko is a red herring and Yuuri is way too much of a nice guy to break up their relationship.
NTR Otabek and get Mila, moves to pair skating
silly anon, Victor had his fiancé Mila all along. He's wearing a ring episode 1, remember?
Otabek seems to be fairly direct with his feelings, so I'm hoping that any MISUNDERSTANDINGS bullshit will be minimal. We also know basically nothing about Otabek as a character, so there's plenty of room for development.
